No Spoilers Official The Callisto Protocol Discussion [PS/PC/Xbox]

I read thru like 4 or 5 pages and no one mentioned the plot of the game yet. Is it any good?

I can play a game like this if the story is interesting
One of the biggest complaints from reviewers is lack of story

I was about to buy during lunch break. The reviews for this game seem to be really bad.

Another thing I want to point out. I've probably sunk about 3 hours into this due to all the deaths but it says I'm only at 1 hour 35 mins. It's not a biggie but I am a bit disappointed by that as I like to know my actual running time.

One of my longest runs on TLOU2 was 39 hours and that included many deaths and restrategising

eh that's a no for me then. I like a good story to go with my games. Deadspace had a good one going for it from what I played anyways. Didn't finish it but made it about 1/3 of the way through.

They really aren't helping their case, rough reviews, rough launch, rough patch.

I actually saw this too and one of the first things I thought is then why would it take so long to remedy if it already was remedied? Maybe real an excuse, maybe bull to face-save– don't know, but just something that crossed my mind. These kinds of baseline performance issues are really lame in 2022-2023.

Finally got some time to play last night and couldn’t put it down. New player and enemy mechanics are keeping things interesting. Still not much way in the story except “escape” but there’s been some genuinely awesome action sequences and the last section I was in was genuinely creepy.

I started playing this game after originally canceling my order. Kind of glad I gave it a second chance to be honest. This is a really well made game and the combat is going to divide people. I like it but it did take about two hours for me to finally understand that you can just hold the left stick or right instead of timing it. Before I was doing either perfect dodges or dying a bunch of times lol. I do wish there was more enemy variety though. Is this game a masterpiece? No but very few are. I’d give it a solid 7.5 out of 10 so far. The flaws are there but there’s enough that is is holding my interest and looking forward to finishing it probably sometime end of next week.

Wait so you changed your mind too? I thought we both weren’t buying it lol. Guess we have no self control

No I preordered it. It was a physical copy though so I could have taken it back and decided to say fuck it and decide for myself after seeing all the different opinions. Like five hours in and not having any regrets so far.

Copium

j/k, you seem like a glass half full kind of dude. I would have found a way to be a negative Nancy about it.

Just beat it tonight. For me this is one of those games that you play through once, and pretty much never want to touch again. There's zero replay value. Repetitive as hell (I feel like I did the same thing in combat from the time I acquired my first gun and the GRP, to the time the game ended), linear as hell, and a majorly forgettable story. The shoddy combat never once grew on me, and it was far too easy to abuse the GRP for insta-kills by chucking enemies into spike traps. The bosses were awful as well, particularly the single, shallow-as-a-puddle miniboss that was recycled ad nauseum near the end of the game. One thing I will say is that the graphics were outstanding, and the sound design rocked as well. Such a gorgeous and awesome-sounding game, let down by literally everything else.

I have died and died and died. I've died so much. I honestly am enjoying this game.

I 100% see why people aren't enjoying it. It doesn't have much dialogue or story at all plus not everyone is into combat like this plus when you die, it can send you back about 10 minutes which is infuriating

It took me a few hours to get the hang of the combat. I think they've completely dropped the ball in not adding a new game+. I just don't understand why not, makes no sense at all as I certainly won't be replaying this if I can't carry on my upgrades

NG+ coming in the first title update. Which means they released the game unfinished. Is normal.

They need a chapter select update. I already know I missed a couple of those recordings and that goes towards trophy completion. Yeah I’m one of those trophy hunting types. I’m not crazy about it but I do like seeing that trophy next to my games

Well I hate to say it but I may be done with the game. I am on the Ride the train to Arcas segment and I've been trying it all day only to just keep getting slaughtered. I love a challenge but it's just way too frustrating and solid. I just keep dying over and over with very little success. I nearly lost my shit earlier and decided to switch it off. It feels like they wanted to make enemies harder in this segment which is understandable as it's bloody solid. Anyone else been at this part yet?

I beat that part without even breaking a sweat by abusing the GRP. Pick an enemy up and flick them off the side of the tram as quickly as you can, rinse--repeat. I didn't use my baton or guns so much as once.

It's a solid game if you like this genre, definitely worth it imo. If you're just a AAA game whore skip it, it's gonna be too short/difficult.

The atmosphere is absolutely amazing to me, reminds me of the chills I got back in the ps1 horror days.
