True. MMA is much, much more interesting.
I agree. In boxing you can only hit the guy with the front of your knuckles (not even back fists) and from a very small space from essentially belly button thru the head. When you shell up you have no target. In MMA you can essentially do damage anywhere, which is why so many MMA fighters have trouble switching over - its a very limited skill set competitively and Jake has taken this serious and picks his opponents wisely. Change the rules a little, like Triad did, and you get very different results.

Jake will continue to stack deck in his favor cuz he can. As soon as he saw Andy lost a step he was all about dat life.

I don't disagree, just pointing out the goal post is moving. Dude above said no shot Jake beats Izzy in any combat sport and I am pointing out the exact same argument has been used vs Jakes previous three MMA opponents and he beat them all. Anderson is old, yes, but dude been juicing his balls off and is no regular 47 yr old. He is not in his prime but even still, can we say for sure that Izzy is a superior boxer to Anderson? Their MMA bout was even pretty closely contested and that is when Andy was under USADA. Izzy ain't a boxer either, he is a kick boxer who has been doing nothing but wrestle and BJJ for past half decade or so.
I think Izzy vs Jake would be a tough match up for Jake.

He beat Bogdan Stoica, who was no.1 ranked light heavyweight in the world and top 10 middleweight for several years and Yousri Belgaroui who was a top 10 middleweight in order to challenge for the title. Yes, that's elite. Now stop trolling clown
i appreciate that you clicked probably the only two blue names on izzy’s kickboxing wikipedia but neither of them beat anyone either before they fought izzy. the belgaroui win aged well but stoica’s beaten journeymen almost exclusively.

Well, he was knocked down round 8. Which is a point deduction in boxing. Meaning even if it was 4-4, one of pauls rounds would have been a 10-8 to silvas all 10-9's so he still would have lost.
Okay, I wasnt sure how that knockdown was scored. Makes sense.

To be fair I think he’s mostly a WMMA fan.
nah he knows his MMA shit and his WMMA shit. but he only knows THAT shit. he only ever talks boxing or appears in this forum when an MMA fighter is competing or some sort of huge fight is going down. he’s a boxing casual, which is totally fine btw

Ehh I get what you’re saying but it’s still a bit saddening that a YouTuber could outbox one of the best strikers out there in our sport.
Yeah it's a shitty state of affairs because I didn't expect this outcome and definitely expected Silva to pull it off. I missed the fight so I haven't seen it yet but it sounds more like Silva looked slow and washed at 47 and Paul looked sharper and better.

Eitherway I give Paul his props for this win but the optics for MMA are dogshit to your average casual nobody viewer.

flashes of old anderson was still there

BRING ON NATE DIAZ NEXT

Imagine if they banned the clinch totally, boxing would be 100% better. I've never seen anything interesting there. Maybe how Hatton used it to win, but that was because of his blitzes.
You can't because the truth is grappling is more naturally innate to human combat than punching is so even when you try to have a punching only competition the boxers naturally always tie up and hug one another when taking blows or catching their breath.

There is no version of any type of physical, unarmed combat that doesn't involve some kind of grappling.

I’ll give you Leben but a jab on an off balanced grappler in Okami lol.

sad to see silva lose, looked old literally, a great fight either way, experience vs youth

Just because some retards were saying that jake would lose against Askren and Woodley doesn't mean everyone would. Everyone with a brain knew that this would be a hard fight for a nearly 50 year old metal-legged Anderson Silva. Stop it with the strawmanning
Hol up, the whole reason for my response was because a dude above said there was no shot that Jake would beat Izzy in any combat sport. Do you agree with that? Would Jake 100% lose to Izzy. I never said everyone thought that Jake would lose to Askren thru Andy, but there were people that were spouting the rhetoric that there was no way Jake, a "YouTuber", could beat Askren thru Andy in any combat sports event. That notion has to to stop - just because MMA fighters have been training a little boxing for a long time does not mean they can beat a guy like Jake, who has been training nothing but boxing for a shorter time.

Everything is easier with hindsight, but Andy was an over whelming favorite on these forums, same with Woodley. Paul has made many of us on these forums, I cousins myself, eat their words. To think he would go from barely getting by Deji to KO'ing Woodley in a matter of years is impressive no matter how you cut it.

Anderson is an old man, obviously nothing like he was in his prime, but he did beat JCC Jr. Not sure how much that means at this point, but Anderson, unlike Woodley or Askren, understands boxing's fundamentals and isn't a complete push-over. If Jake didn't know how to fight, he would've been exposed.

Hopefully all these MMA guys like Diaz realize that if they're fighting Jake, they're fighting a guy who's a legit threat to them, not just some Youtube clown.

I think Izzy vs Jake would be a tough match up for Jake.
It def would be a tough match up and Izzy very likely favored, but I can still see Jake winning. I noticed Jake will get down low and use his jab to the body alot to score. In MMA you can counter this with a knee, kick, but in boxing it is super hard to score on a guy when he does that. H

Izzy def would and should be favored, but I can def see Jake winning that by UD.

Jake has a really smart style for scoring points and winning rounds in boxing. He gets down low and will just jab to the body, score points, and if you try to counter you hit shoulder or wiff. In MMA or kick boxing a knee or kick would put him out if he tries this, but it is boxing and it is really hard to score on a guy using that game plan. He is content to eek out rounds, and if you get frustrated and try to get aggressive he has that devastating right counter.

One thing I think is pretty undebatable: Jake has more KO power in his hands than Izzy. Dude has legit rare power in his hands, and that is a great equalizer.

Nate won't get the job done, not with only 8 rounds abd his pillow fists. Tommy Fury is the fight to make IMO. Time for Jake to fight another real boxer, same age, same experience. Then I'm cool with him fighting a contender if Tommy don't KO him. I'm done with him and these washed up MMA fighters.

I don’t know how anyone could label Jake a clown. He wrestled in high school, was decent and learned how to box for a few years. That makes him more qualified in MMA than 60% of fighters in the UFC from 1993-1997.

Plus the added bonus of youth, size and lack of injuries compared to seasoned MMA fighters.

I just see ppl mad because Jake continues to win. Right or wrong but that is the main reason.
