News Official scorecards for Makhachev vs. Poirier

This is might end up being a repeat of the responses to the first volk fight, where immediately everyone thought it was a very competitive fight, then as time went on, a growing shadow from the corner of the internet comes out saying "4-1 islam. Islam in control whole time brada. Crowd cheering swayed opinions. Short australian weight cut effected islam." Making the fight less competitive in their mind with more and more hindsight.

we're at stage one of that, next will be people bringing up the supposed staph infection and how that effected islam's performance and weight cut.

When really, it was a close fight while it lasted with two rounds that were hard to score.

I think people are crediting Dustin for surviving on the ground and tagging Islam. But what’s lost is Islam tagged Dustin 3x for every clean time he got tagged. In general Islam suffers from the bias of most fans wanting him to lose which shades how they view the fight. Same with the Volk fight. Do you know how many people gave Volk the 4th round? Absurd.

So do I, which is wild because Lee is by far the worst judge in UFC history. The guy has no clue at all usually.

well, it was a good fight either way. That's what matters to me as a fan. Love me a good darce choke.

The ending sequence was slick. It was a great fight for sure. Poirier made a good account of himself despite some acting like he was a can for Islam to crush. I wish more could acknowledge both are awesome but unfortunately many have to put somebody down.

I had it 4-0 Islam, R4 was close but Islam had a couple of good boxing combos where he rocked Dustin, and Dustin's strikes outside of the big elbow were less effective

Yeah, I hate to write off other opinions as being biased but I do know many people were rooting for Dustin and a lot of people don’t like Islam so I have to wonder if that’s at play with how some scored it as well.

Which is stupid. I was rooting for Dustin, and the thought that a decision W was remotely on the table for him entering the 5th never crossed my mind. Idk if I saw a single round for him tbh.

Agree - I had money on Hafez and was convinced I lost ….. it was close though …. The 30-27s didnt make any sense at all to me … poor Gall lol

But 49-46 Costa was atrocious - it’s up there with the worst of the worst
