My hope for the future is a significant emphasis on the enhancement of mechanics and innovation in the gameplay arena. Stellar graphics are awesome, but it appears that the term ‘next-gen’ has been predominantly associated with graphics rather than gameplay.

The enhancement of enemy AI is an aspect that requires attention. Additionally, there should be a more effective utilization of the SSD. A Time Cop game for instance where you're jumping through different moments in history and the game instantly teleports you to that timeframe without delay. That sounds next gen to me.
Rift Apart did something similar to that. Did you play that one? Beautiful graphics too. Honestly preferred it over the Spidey games although those are amazing too

Thanks for reminding me, I still have this in my backlog. You're 100% right though, it's very similar and exactly the type of innovation I wish there was more of.

Apparently every PS Studio family member has had the PS5 Pro devkit – and Square Enix outside that, singularly; interesting considering current talk that Final Fantasy exclusivity is also going to be tightening, not loosening going forward. Later this month devkits go out to third parties, to add. Insider talk is the Pro will be almost 70% stronger than the PS5 and the most powerful console ever made.

A GTA VI launch bundle might be in the works, too, for a GTA VI version that comes uniquely optimised to tap into the power of the Pro as well as features of the new DualSense controller in the works.

Imagine playing Rise of the Ronin or a Bloodborne remaster on this monster. F. Performance and presentation modes: Engaged.

Sega also supposedly either has or will have one too very soon too

Also loads of info here from a few sources: https://videocardz.com/newz/sony-pl...-features-amd-rdna3-gpu-with-60-compute-units

Yet according to the poll only 4 people voted yes to buying one. Who are these guys fooling? Everyone posting here is going to buy one lol. As a psvr2 owner and having a huge catalog of ps5 games it seems dumb not to experience them all better

Well part of it is going to come down to what they do with the existing catalogue of PS5 games. So many games over the past few years have given the option of “performance” vs “quality” modes, ie 60fps vs 4k and/or ray tracing. The question is, will this allow one to go back and get 60fps on quality modes? Or will it only affect new games going forward?

The other factor is cost. If this thing is going to be like $800-900 USD then I’ll probably pass. Would rather put that money towards a new gaming laptop (although presently I’m plenty happy with my current laptop that’s got a 3070 Ti gpu)

I can almost guarantee it will be 599. Feels like the smart choice. No way they are going to charge that much

Probably will be like the PS4 Pro, Checkerboard or Upscaled 4K /60 if anything does get a patch but that's up to the Devs.

Unless it's something CPU heavy like a large open world game then I think as the CPU isn't getting much of an upgrade those games will still probably be 30fps but just have a resolution boost

I said I wasn't going to get it but I honestly probably will. The thing is I always end up selling my current console so it's not like I'm literally out $600. I probably spend an extra $300 at most and get a new better PS5. I'll probably end up selling mine to the one guy in our group who still doesn't have one for like $200.

Agreed. I think Sony will continue the lower entry cost at point of console purchase to encourage players to enter the ecosystem. Once you're in, then you pay bit of a premium like with the Edge controller for Sony quality and signature peripherals, devices.

Because they're the current torchbearer for cutting-edge and quality game production, I think being a part of that ecosystem pays players back in spades. Personally, gaming is a passion of mine and the experiences I'm afforded by the 1000s of hours thanks to Sony innovation and QC is priceless, IMHO. Worth it. Sony is my ride or die.

While I agree with you that pricing it any higher than that would make moving units really hard, I don’t see how they’d be able to sell them at the price you’re suggesting if the gpu on this thing is going to be as powerful as rumoured. Like if this thing has the power of a 7000 series AMD gpu those alone cost the same as a PS5 or higher. I could see this being $600 USD only by taking out the blu ray drive, which for me is kind of a deal breaker as I watch a lot of movies on mine.

Bros go Pro, bro.

Made this quick screengrab for the crew. All this subject to change of course but I took from Rik's latest article.

Everyone's long commented as this gen progresses, on how unique PS5 architecture is and the Cerny touch making PS consoles shine off-paper and in the wild. Let's see what happens but I have to assume we're again in for a killer machine with killer PS Studio and second-party games to go with it...

Fuck guys…. Don’t go on YouTube if you plan on playing the God of War Ragnarok DLC. Just got something spoiled that would have been cool to experience without knowing about it. I even deleted my browsing history and everything too….

600 or 650 and it'll sell like hotcakes. Hell 700 is a buy for me.

No one batted an eye when the PS3 sold for 600 back in those days.
Well maybe some people did but the initial launch was sold out and then resold for a premium.

Plenty of us will get this. I seriously doubt it will sell for $800-900 but we shall see.

Probably will not upgrade unless I see a significant increase in games NOT being released to the old gen console too. Cannot make two upgrades while still developing boatloads of games for the PS4 too.
I still want it though....

Just redeemed my Stars points for the second time and got almost 40€ added to my PS Store wallet. I’m honestly impressed; that’s a record reward for me.

My next 70€ game is 50% off now by virtue of playing other games. Sony just crushing it with the ‘thanks for playing’ that is.

Redeem your Stars points, fellas. Use the app.

I probably won't. I honestly don't use my PS5 that much, I am like 80% pc gaming (If I have a choice between PS5 and PC, I usually pick PC), and stuff already looks amazing on the 5, so spending at minimum 500 on a new one (probably 600) seems like a waste for me.
