*OFFICIAL* Jon Jones Victim Support Thread

Why would we be crashing out? Jones did what he wanted and retired without taking a loss. Wouldn’t the people who have wanted to see him unconscious looking up at the lights be the ones in need of support? I’m confused.

Because from talkin to you dudes through the years, I know a lot of you say you know he's the goat and that's all that matters but you guys actually get super triggered when people don't agree. And after this, a lot less people are going to think he was the goat. He already loses every goat poll we have on sherdog as it is, and people have to go running to reddit or twitter or some other place where nobody knows shit about mma to find people to agree with them.

It's hilarious to me. His fans are going to be getting trolled and triggered for years now, and so will Jones himself.
They're crashing out so hard and it's hilarious.

You could see over the last week or two they were already falling apart. Gone were the times from 2-3 months ago when they boldly claimed that Jon Jones was playing 5D chess to build up his fight with Aspinall.

All that remains now is the cold bitterness of the truth, that their beloved hero is just a wife beating duck.
It was funny to watch them just abandon the whole "Jon is negotiating/trolling, but he WILL take the fight trust me guyz" bs they had going for months.

Nope, he just ran away. Like we said he was going to. There's your best ever.

<puhlease>

For the record, this is only the beginning. You think it’s gonna be bad now for Jones? It’s just getting started.

The entire sports world is going to criticize him and talk shit to him for the rest of his life. And Sherdog will not be kind to him.

You a fan of Jones? Good luck. You will have yer work cut out for you for years going forward.
Jon Jones and his brother Chandler have both shown signs of serious mental health struggles, and it’s hard not to wonder if their careers in brutal, high-contact sports play a role. Jon has spoken about dealing with anxiety, memory loss, and panic attacks—some of which were visible during his 2020 DWI arrest, where he seemed overwhelmed and disoriented. He’s also admitted to relying on alcohol and drugs to numb what he described as emotional pain. Chandler’s situation took a sharp turn in 2023, when he had multiple public breakdowns, was placed on the NFL’s non-football illness list, and ended up hospitalized. A lot of people suspect repeated head trauma might be a factor. The patterns between the two—memory issues, emotional instability, erratic behavior—paint a picture that’s hard to ignore. It feels less like coincidence and more like a shared burden that comes with years of physical punishment and pressure.

Most Jones fans weren’t even saying that. It was a small minority. Most Jones fans arguments were that Jones had no obligation to fight Aspinall to begin with and that it did nothing for his legacy.

You guys were the ones saying the Aspinall fight was mandatory for the legitimacy of his legacy. Now you’re pretending like that was everyone else’s take.

But yeah, let’s put the whole “crashing out” theory to the test. Count how many positive threads on here there are about Jones versus negative. Let me know what you find.

the only athlete that makes fans happy when he retires: this is the legacy of Picogram.

it's what booze and drugs do to the brain.

There's an article by Okamoto today on ESPN (you know, that little niche sports website that probably gets a few dozen views) outright talking about how Jones ducked Aspinall.

But yeah, it's only some people on Sherdog that know about it and care. 🤣

You realize the number of threads is proportional to the number of people that have turned against Jon Jones right? He's lost a lot of fans.

You can cope however much you want, but it doesn't change reality.

Kind of goes against the entire "Jon will be forgotten" narrative, doesn't it? <lol>

No, I think there’s an argument for GSP, Silva, Mighty Mouse, Fedor and a couple of other people. Where you’re going to run into the most contention is when you try to put the accomplishments of guys like Khabib near Jones.

Or say that he’s not a great fighter. If he already loses every poll, doesn’t that poke a hole in your theory that Jones fans can’t handle backlash and opposing opinions? I don’t see this “triggering” that you’re referring to. Jones fans hardly even exist right now. This entire forum for the past couple of years has devolved into an Aspinall circle jerk. If I’m wrong, prove me wrong.

Every fighter has to retire at some point. There’s always new people to fight. Not every fighter does so after fifteen years of dominance at the highest level. I’ll stand on that.

No, I acknowledge that he doesn’t have many fans. What I’ll disagree with is the fact that they turned against him. They were always against him. There was never a time where it wasn’t like this. That’s not cope. But at least you’re acknowledging that it’s not the Jones fans that are crying. This is actually the first positive Jones thread made in the past few weeks, in a sea of haterade. Fact or fiction?

If you don't see anyone getting triggered, go check out that Jones fan thread that's literally we're not triggered, you're triggered!

Or you know, just the fuckin desperate way there's one in like every thread running defense. Lmao it's like watching a dude die to a zerg rush. There's too many sir, we're getting overrun!

<lol>

People were saying he'd be "forgotten"? That's weird as hell. In the context of MMA and it's relatively short lifespan thus far it's pretty much impossible to not have him as a focal point of the overall story. I think the bigger takeaway is HOW his story is told.

To me, he's still the best fighter I've ever seen when at his peak. And he was also petrified of Aspinall and the likely KO loss that came with him. Both can be true. And he foolishly allowed the ducking narrative to gain traction. Had he just announced right after Stipe that he was done, none of this would really be part of the story. He instead held out hope for an easier opponent like Poatan and allowed his legacy to have this addendum added to it.

The Jones fans are the ones crashing out right now lmao. You guys need the support, we're all having the laugh we knew we would have in the end the entire time.

It's a great big fat we told you so and we knew the whole time, eat it. And it's only the beginning.
I don’t think you understand what it is to be a fan of mma and skill displayed without being in a romantic stimulative state over the fighter and there is nothing wrong with that

Which is there more of? Threads defending Jones or threads condemning Jones? Do the ones condemning him not count or something?

Condemning for sure I'd say, Jones fanbase on here is small they're just loud. It's all in fun. You seem reasonable enough in passing, you're not the kinda guy we've been waiting to roast because we knew this would happen.

They know who they are lmao

Both can be true. But the reality is that they’re both just opinions. None of it can be proven. And he actually announced that he was done before the Stipe fight, but that a larger payday could entice him to do one more. Until the figures they were offering him are released versus what he was on record asking for, the only logical entailment we can come to is that the number wasn’t met.

So many great memories of Jones being the GOAT that he is. I remember when Jones destroyed Reyes. Only the winner gets their hands raised at the end of a fight.

Okay so I should feel bad and sad for the party that is laughing and having a good time. The ones who are raging and punching at the air are the ones who should be admired - got it.
One, no one is telling you to feel bad or sad and that's not what his critics are feeling.

Two, I don't know how to tell you this, but plenty of shitty people know how to laugh and have a good time while they're being shitty and even more know how to fake it because they know morons respond positively to it.

If this is the determining factor on how you judge people's actions, you need to sit down and really think about all the terrible ways you failed your brain, which at one time had the same potential as anyone else.

I gotta be real boss I as a person that recognize Jones as the greatest fighting talent bar none am not in concern with a damn thing you say until you make third grade generalizations about Jones fans. It’s quite silly. Either you see it my way orr nan nanny boo boo. You Tony Fergusson hairline having basement crumb. That’s literally throwing a rock and hiding your hand.

That’s fair. To continue that train of thought, can you explain to me what shitty things Jones fans are doing to people, and why they’re faking their joy and elation?

In this situation, I think it is a very fair determining factor in judging the actions of these two specific parties.
