Multiplat Official Cyberpunk: Phantom Liberty Discussion

Will the PL expansion prove a do-over for the title after widely maligned launch?

Finishing up the full game including expansions, crazy how this went from being a failure to being resurrected into a powerhouse of a game. Hardest part was finding time to be able to fully invest my time and attention, the world here was nicely done along with all the various groups. Before I hit the expansions I did feel some game fatigue but those picked me back up instantly.

At first I was really questioning my decision to go a Stealth/Melee/Sandevistan build when I fought.... the first boss of Phantom Liberty.

I really had no noteworthy guns and absolutely no quickhacks, so I thought I was screwed fighting it with just a Tier-4 Thermal Katana.

But after a few tried I was able to defeat it.
Rationally thinking I knew CDPR would keep in mind many players are all-melee so they'd wouldn't make any portion if the expansion impossible, but that was definitely tricky. Very thankful I was Level24 with three health packs or else I think it would have been significantly harder.

After playing a game so many times like Cyberpunk2077 I have to ask myself to justify playing through it again 'What am I doing differently this time?'

My first time playing Phantom Liberty I played most of it near the end of the main game.

The second time I played PL inter-weaved with the main game.

This time I played all of the main missions exclusively to get to PL, then exclusively played PL until I finished it, and are now completing the rest of CP2077. Its a bit different playing through 3/4ths of CP2077 when your level is in the 40s with access to Tier5 weapons & cyberware.

I've intended on doing a melee-build, but found myself branching out to pistols, and I think I think I now know what the best pistol in the game is.

I've had the opinion Johnny Silverhand's gun is the 'best' but its more like the most fun, but I've been open to learning which is the most effective.

You know the 'mission' (more like sidequest) that the gunstore owner invites you to a shooting competition? And if you win you get a free gun? Previously on my 1st or 2nd playthrough back 2+ years ago I did it and I wasn't impressed by the gun because it didn't fit my playstyle. But in a discussion about 'What upgrade did you get for the Chimera Core?' I heard a random suggestion that stuck with me.

"I made the 'Firecracker' mod and put it on the Gun Competition gun, and its awesome."

Throughout PL I had that mod on an assault rifle which was surprisingly slow-shooting, and when I got the 'Lexington X-Mod2' (the gun competition gun) I was impressed with the improved control that enhanced the aiming (rated 7.9/8 in its stats) it has a pretty good scope, and the trigger control is awesome. It can be shot once without worrying two or three bullets would come out after, it has impressive rapid-fire control, and if you hold down the trigger its completely automatic.

I added...
*The 'Firecracker' mod, making all rounds explosive.
*Tier 5 'Pyro' mod - 'Converts 50% of damage delt to Thermal Damage and gives a 20% chance to burn."
*Tier 5 'RC-7 DYBBUK' muzzle break - '+100 Recoil Direction Reduction.'

Its now a Tier5++ Iconic with +175% Headshot Damage with very little recoil.
Next time you're thinking of doing a pistol build I highly recommend this being your main if you're planning on not being stealthy.

New 2077 anime coming out, been confirmed

For those who are hoping for some kind of continuation of Edgerunners, I sincerely doubt thats going to happen.

That story began and ended with David Martinez.

It'd be interesting if the new series lead into the next Cyberpunk game, possibly taking place years later (2099?) in a completely different city.

180 hours later in my second playthrough and I am now done. Finished PL. Went back and finished Nocturne OP55N1. This game cemented itself as top 5 of all time in my games. CDPR sure knows how to set a game up narratively that sticks with you.

I will say, of all the endings, The one where Johnny ceases to exist and you go on your life with no chrome had to be the saddest of em all. It felt deflating. Panam leaves you, Judy gets married, Vik went all corpo on us, and Misty got her act together (looks good too). My fav ending was definitely When you become the next fixer and take over The Afterlife.

Just left a bloodbath when leaving Black Sapphire...

Honestly, I don't know why. Would have been smarter to walk out peacefully and play it smart...

Wonder if there any effects...

Didn't even know that could be done.

Yeah, I pulled out Bloody Maria and, with the help of grenades and hacks, decimated everyone in the lobby, after the conversation with the second grunt.

Wiped out everyone, got a three star wanted level and ran into the alley to lose it. Reed said "Good work"...

Holy shit I’m only 2 hours in but it’s been epic. The only thing is i suck ass at hacking and don’t know what I’m doing.
Chose Nomad also. Main buddy has been some guy named johny or Jackie

By the way, you may be under the impression you already completed the tutorial with the T-bug training.

But actually CDPR's tutorial section are absolutely huge, and since you are only 2 hours in I can guarantee you you're still in it.

So, when will you know you're past the tutorial and the full game & map is open to you to explore?

You'll have met Johnny.

I won't ever post a spoiler for you, but I will post teases.

Corpo is the real mvps choice for backstory

(Its also best backstory by far in game)

Got 2 hours in last night .. it was all hacking into recordings ?! I liked it because it guided you but it definitely took up a lot of time in that Heist mission with Jackie.

Also the ps5 controller makes loud noises with the actions, I can’t find anywhere to turn down the volume , can only turn it off .
