No Spoilers Official Black Myth: Wukong Discussion

i was on the edge about this but seems like

i'm waiting on 2 things from you then i'm buying this game

1 ) rage post that the game sucks and the boss you are stuck on is unfair
2 ) victory post that you beat the unfair boss and that you are really like the game "so far"

once this happens, i'm smashing the buy button
Probably incoming, just got to a boss with two health bars.

Ok beat the boss but dropped right into another bullshit boss

Just cleared the sand gate village in ch 2, what a pain in the ass that wise. Fairly small area but fucking archers on out of reach rooftops everywhere.

I did figure out that you can reach higher ledges by jumping and doing a strong attack that almost works like a double jump, since your character does a flip and gets some vertical height.

Im disappointed that no one in the gaming space has made the joke calling this game Black Death Wuhan yet : (

I predict they'll nerf archers in the game. Yes they give you a move specifically to deflect arrows but still, shits annoying

Honestly just prefer to dodge since the staff spin is only useful for arrows that it's not really in my muscle memory as an action.

What drove me crazy about the sand gate area was more of the massive amount of archers off screen that shot at me while I was fighting ground enemies. They hit you with that rapid shot of like 6 arrows that stun locks you.

Title crushing it with 10M units reported sold in maiden 72h. Only third game from New Science studio, if I remember from previous reading.

It would be a happier headline if they weren't backed by Tencent with its 5% stake.

It's by no means a perfect game but an amazing experience none the less. Heading towards level 50 and into chapter 3. It's way more enjoyable once you start making progress

The only gripes I have are the invisible walls and I'm so used to be able to grab ledges and vault up in games it feels weird not to be able to do it.

Other than that it's got all the things I want out of a souls game but without all the mechanics that make me never want to pick them up lol and it makes me want to keep coming back which is a rarity these days

The world and aesthetic is incredible and I think it's so cool that it's based on a cornerstone of Chinese culture. It's my favorite success story of the year. Just an awesome single player game without any of modern life's bullshit being shoe horned into it. GOTY for me

Wrapped up Chapter 2. It was a fun chapter for the most part. I honestly hate the fast travel system though.

The deeper into the game I go (started chapter 3) the more the game resembles a Souls game. While the combat is more GOW, the enemies, their placement and the methodical approach you have to take to some areas are def more Souls than GOW. It's rare you'll encounter more than 3 enemies at a time. It happens in some areas, but not a lot. AND, smaller enemies can kill you if you're not careful.

I'm getting roasted by the Tiger Vanguard in chapter 2. I think he's an optional boss but I just can't bring myself too e on to far with him still alive. I can get him close but I just get to anxious.

*Edit*
Ended up switching out my armor and got him. Recommendations were for the water armor in health Regen, but the AC was pretty low compared to my other set. Went back to that with the perfect dodge bonuses and got. I was pretty close and just put together a good run.

Best fight in Chapter 2 by far.

Use 2 pieces of Galeguard and 2 Bronze armor. One will buff your Focus and the other Immobilize. I also used that dude who pulls out 2 snakes for poison and then Pluck of Many at a certain time iirc.

Got in the edit right before you posted and took down. Agreed the most fun fight so far. The area under his arena seems like maybe higher level gear required. Got jumped by 3 little ninja dudes that barely took any damage and got ganked.

Yea, those little bastards are tough. Pluck of Many again down there. Just move some points into it to give it a buff.

I should make a note that the 10 points you usually get when upgrading your staff make such a big difference. For a while I was being stubborn and didn't want to upgrade and was struggling (In level 1 & 2). Once I upgraded I could tell a big difference. Moving forward, I will be upgrading when offered.

Things I focus on - Smash Stance, Martial Arts, Immobilize, Pluck of Many, Gore-Eyed Daoist. There's a good chance I'll upgrade Galeguard to max barring better armor. The amount of focus that thing builds is insane.

Can you change your equipment in this game?

Yeah you get new weapons/armor/accessories and can swap them when needed. All the weapons are variations of staffs, so they all have the same moveset just different stats.

Just took out the white dragon Kang Jin Loong in chapter 3. What a piece of shit fight that was. I had to watch some tips and found a piece of gear makes the fight a lot easier that I had missed, but even with that the targeting made this fight awful. Could only target his head when he was flying and I would miss so many attacks that would hit the body because I would try to get his head that was way out of reach.
