Elections NYC mayoral race

Pretty interesting how 0.33% can either be a massive number or completely insignificant depending on what they're trying to support. When it's late term abortions, "that's not even a thing, it's only like 1 or 2% of abortions", and when it's crime generally, your odds of being the victim of violent crime in NYC are about 1 in 129, or .78%, and that equals "perfectly safe city", and when some NGO tries to downplay nationwide BLM riots, the best they can possibly come up with was "93% peaceful, only 7% turned into violent riots", which of course means "overwhelmingly peaceful movement so stop criticizing the violent riots".

All of these numbers are multiples to orders of magnitude higher than the 0.33% of police interactions that escalate to violence, yet that is the one that means policing is "rotten to the core" and requires massive changes.

Unless you live in NYC, I say let them have it. This guy is going to be the poster boy for all future DSA candidates in future elections, so if crime goes up, any of the tax base leave, growth slows or stops, prices go up, he'll be the guy future DSA candidates, including AOC trying to run for president in 2028, have to stand by in front of sane voters, or do what they always do and scramble for someone else to blame and claim "that wasn't real socialism" yet again.

I can all but guarantee that mamdani will put pressure on police to not make arrests for certain crimes like San Fran and other similar cities have done and then touted their “successes” so the crime rates would probably go down. If you ignore a bunch of crimes and they are not reported, that is what is called the “dark figures of crime” and it can be very misleading in terms of what the actual crime picture looks like and a really important, but completely subjective measurement of how safe do the citizens feel? That is a very often overlooked and underutilized crime measurement tool.

Being a Republican in NY must be like being a blind person at a nude beach. What’s the point

Well you got Staten Island and Hicksville lol dont lose hope!

But that's how I feel about Texas/Florida and cannabis. You still got Ken Paxton trying to sue municipalities for decriminalizing or you got Ron DeSantis using opioid treatment resource funds to buy advertising and initiatives to fight against amendment 3 (recreational). Backwards ass states.

Scumbag

Another absolutely disgusting aspect of this race was how much money was spent during this election cycle. I fucking hate billionaires and I actually agree with mamdani that they shouldn’t exist. Billionaires across the country donated huge sums of money to cuntbag cuomo and tried to purchase sleewa by trying to get him to drop out to help cuomo. We’re talking about HUGE sums of money spent on this election, which is insane when you realize how much actual good that money could accomplish and just how disgusting it is how much money these people have-especially the so called “heiress” of Walmart who is one of the richest people period with over 125 billion dollars. What disgusting people they are to want to have that much money and to actually have that much money. Sure, they virtue signal by giving money to charities, but you can give millions to charity and still have so much money that you could never ever spend it. Again, imagine the actual good that could come from that much money. It further makes me sick to know that in this world, there are people that can’t even feed themselves and children dying of cancer while these fucks love the best life ever. Why can’t they be the ones to get that cancer instead of a child? But then again, you probably can’t give cancer to actual cancers on society.

Cahoots didn't end, they withdrew service to Springfield because of issues with the parent organization, Whitebird, and their handling of the city contract criteria. It has nothing to do with the effectiveness of service, which is still excellent.

I never said it “wasn’t effective” or useful. What I am 100% against is defunding where they take money from the police budget and instead use it for cahoots, or social workers, so called “violence interrupters” , or anything else that takes away from police training, overtime to mount effective crime suppression programs, cutting special units, mounting overtime to cover shifts while those officers go to much needed training, etc. defunding police was such a drastic failure everywhere it was tried and even the movement to defund the police e and pretty much all of 2020 all but destroyed the police profession in this country-all over a total piece of shit being killed by another total piece of shit-who was fired, charged, and convicted of both federal and state crimes-I will never understand how that is not double jeopardy territory.

Again, you’re too fucking lazy to spend 3 minutes to read a response where I told you that I WAS the CIT aspect of my department for many years before others got the training, which is now standard and I think, required. And Eugene does not currently have a contract with the city-at least from what I read months ago. Has that changed? Are cahoots still responding to calls or is the police department now responding to those calls? I am pretty sure it is the police but I think private citizens can call for cahoots.

This is happening in LA. Petty crime is through the roof but a large percentage of it doesn’t get reported. Cops don’t do shit here anymore unless it’s in affluent areas.

84% of women in NY City voted for Mamdani.

It will be fun to see these women navigate Marxism and Islam. I wish them the best.

Who wants a jury trial in New York if you're not a Leftist?
So when does he set up Sharia Law or are you just fear mongering.
I got a Muslim kid on my baseball team. His parents are cool, and the kid is super respectful and honestly would love to have 10 kids just like him.
Are you saying nobody should be allowed to be a Muslim in America?
You should broaden your horizons and actually break bread with a Muslim, they are not much different than anyone else. Sure there are some Muslims who are shit heads, just like there are Christians who are shit heads. There are shitheads on the left and right. Honestly if you are ever in a room with 10 people, one of them is going to be a shit head.

Just rich ones IMHO.

Sane and normal Jews are splitting with elitist weirdos.

Anyone that's been around truly progressive/far left circles knows that Jews are overrepresented there.

This is also part of the Jewish world domination conspiracy. A bunch of uber rich bankers are Jews but so are a lot of socialist activists. They "get you" on both sides.

Cahoots is only serving Springfield due to what are essentially contract issues with Whitebird (which is having more and more problems internally). County crisis services have filled some of the coverage, but they aren't 24 hour. Again, and i've already said this numerous times, you'd be very hard pressed to find a bigger supporter of Cahoots than the Eugene police. And that wasn't the case at first, when the program was launched many many years ago. But over time the effectiveness of the model was unquestionably positive for everyone involved.

Well yeah, because they can feel unsafe because they just finished watching 10 Cat Turd tweets showing black dudes shoplifting or doing home break ins or something even though absolutely nothing has ever happened to them or their loved ones.

Yeah, or they live there and actually see it.

LOL @ having to be a victim of violent crime, to be concerned about it. Brilliant logic, there.

Maybe a question like "have you personally seen crime occur in the last week/month/year" would be helpful

"Personally" is key because the perpetually online can "see" a ton of things all day long. I've seen decapitation videos, doesn't mean heads are being chopped off in my city.

Well, you can thank da george gascon (it’s actually funny how much I type some of these progressive DAs names on my phone and I used to have to purposely not capitalize their names out of a lack of respect but now my phone knows me well enough to not waste the energy). In his infinite, extremely progressive, soros ownsed wisdom-he made the decision to no longer do three crime fighting policies in ca. three strikes laws first implemented there in the 90s prior to any other state using them; the gang and gun enhancements used to lock violent offenders up that use guns or are proven to be tied to gangs-which drive a huge portion of our gun violence in this country, or charging juveniles as adults-ever no matter what they do. You could have a juvenile commit murder and gascon won’t charge them as adults to ensure they spend more than a pittance e of a couple of years locked up. Look, I am against charging day an 8 year old as an adult, but a 17 year old knows better.

Back to the gun enhancement-how in the fuck can you be against punishing people for committing violent crimes and using a gun to do so? A robbery where you push someone down and take their wallet is not the same as sticking a gun on their face and taking their wallet. And I actually know the answer behind him and larry krasner of Philly because they have admitted why they do what they do-because of the race of the offenders are almost exclusively minorities. I have seen an article or a video or maybe even the documentary they did on krasner where he said that.

We know that juveniles, gangs, and felons with firearms are the reason we have around 20k murders/year-and he’s playing race politics and said he doesn’t want to lock up tons of minorities for that crime? Meanwhile, this prick krasner has repeatedly blasted the nra and other states “lax gun laws” for the violence in his city. The fucking nerve of this guy!

I’ll never understand why people want to be lenient on violent crime. Lives are at stake when you let these people off the hook. Sexual assaults and violent crimes aren’t the ones to go easy on. You go easy on the other stuff
