Social Nova Scotia Canada bans hiking

Seems like that would have to be the case. Really hard to imagine any other way a friend would end up being "found violating the ban", unless maybe reported by the landowner.
I thought it was obvious that the intent was to ensure visitors are told by property owners to not fuck around because of the dry conditions and the fire ban.

Yeah my grass is brown. Need to get the sprinkler going.

I was within 10km of the tantallon wildfire that happened not long ago and it's bound to happen again the way dorks toss their lit cigarettes around here
And that's why even hiking is banned until conditions improve. As opposed to
No shit sherlock. Whenyou have nothing that can start fires what the fuck are you talking about Andy? Walking is combustible! Lol

Man youre a government simp.

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all of us command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
You're not free to start fires that burn up other people's shit. WTF man. This is just saying, stay the fuck out of the woods until we get some rain--better to be safe than sorry. How much of a selfish asshole do you have to be to have a problem with that?

On top of that, it's a safety issue for would-be hikers. Say you're out in the woods somewhere and a fire breaks out. You could end up being trapped very quickly.

first, who are you calling an asshole?

And Who’s talking about starting fires? Hiking doesn’t involve fire. Are we worried that some hikers are so fast that their feet start friction enough to light the whole forest on fire? And no fishing either. I am not a professional angler, so maybe I haven’t seen it all, but I have never seen a fire started because I caught some bass. Water tends to be a bad place to start a fire unless it is Lake Erie when it caught fire because of all the oil and shit floating in it.

Yet, they’re allowing camping? You know, the one activity here that actually involves making fires to cook!!

How about outlaw smoking or building fires? Nope. We are stopping people from walking anywhere in the woods or doing certain things on their own private land.

That’s why I highlighted their national anthem and the word free that is in there no less than three times. Because outlawing people walking reeks of freedom.

Many underground water tables are considered non renewable.

I'm learning a lot today.

AI Overview

What is Groundwater? – The Groundwater Foundation
Many underground water tables, particularly those containing fossil water or those in arid regions, are considered non-renewable resources due to extremely slow recharge rates. While groundwater is generally renewable through the hydrological cycle, the rate at which it is replenished can be significantly slower than the rate of extraction, especially in deep aquifers or areas with low precipitation.

I don't think you're appreciating the scale of the hazard and the fact they've been trying different solutions with little success for decades.

I went to BC to do some hiking and the week before I went the entire region we'd planned to go burned to ash. This was in a remote, mountainous, heavily wooded area and if I had gone that week there's a really good chance I'd be dead.

Well, Damn’t, Loiosh-you’re late for everything. If only you had been a week early!!! We wouldn’t have to see you post anymore lol.

Seriously, I am talking about walking in the woods, on trails, fishing, and other outdoor activities that don’t involve fire.

My point is that they've tried many solutions over decades and the problem has gotten so serious they've stopped fucking around.

You were law enforcement for a long time, surely you can think of or have been part of situations where someone being reckless ultimately put you in danger?

Rescuing someone from a fire can be pretty dangerous, and it doesn't take a person to start a fire. The fires I missed were caused by lightning strikes.

Get it through your thick head. It only takes one fuckup of a person to torch a huge area. It's a stupid thing to whine about--waiiiinnnn why don't I get to have the chance to be trapped in a wildfire by some douche tossing aside a lit cigarette. Gimme a break.

We should outlaw lightening

Truth is that it is possible they are trying to ban/banning hiking as it's "supposably" a white ppl thing, but they want to mask it as some "fire prevention measure".

P.s. tbh, I entered this thread with same expectations as yours.
White people thing ? Lol most trails in my area are littered with Indians and Pakistanis.

We had a burn ban last time a wildfire started but it just took 1 idiot doing illegal burning to cause 170 million in damage

In the end I agree, someone is going to toss a cigarette or joint at the wrong spot and kick something off regardless of this hiking ban.

Last time we had a burn ban in place. Didn't stop it. It started in someone's backyard in tantallon.

Last time a roofer was posting videos on Instagram of himself smoking joints and tossing butts off the roof(with no fall protection lol). 10 minutes later he was posting a video of a fire in the backyard he was working in. He since deleted the videos of him working and folks clamoring that the yard ignored the burn ban, but crown couldn't press charges.

Everyone is still using the trails and ignoring this. At most they will get a fine and if a fire starts, they will be unable to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that a biker or hiker started it
