NoBodY kNowS aBouT AsPinALL, hE's iRrEleVAnT!

You can’t say he hasn’t earned the right to pick a few opponents at the end of his career.
It's this part that REALLY kills me.

I'm not the biggest fan of jones, but jones has NEVER in his entire 18 title fight wins seeked an easy or favourable opponent. Every single time he defended the LHW title it was against the person who deserved it the most with one exception; Chael sonnen, Whom he first tried to deny on the grounds that HE DIDN'T FUCKING DESERVE IT. He never wanted that fight, the UFC strongarmed him into it. It was a stupid waste of everyones time. He knew it, I knew it, You knew it, Chael knew it.

Jones has NEVER avoided a deserving contender to get an easier matchup. Ever. not once in his entire career of 18 title wins. He's not allowed to pick a fight that interests him for his retirement fight?

Really?

It's so annoying to have to go to bat for Jones, but it's just the truth. If Jones hasn't earned the right to take a fight that he wants, Has anyone ever?

Exactly, I’ve been rooting against Jones his entire career, but fuck at some point you gotta give his his due and admit he’s more than earned the right to pick a few opponents in the twilight of his career. The hate is so over the top and irrational.

I too rooted against him his entire career. I also gave him no chance against gane, and was also very staunch that he'd never fight at HW then he did.

he's shut me the fuck up so many times.

Yup, at this point the people praying he gets knocked out by Tom, or whatever other surging fighter in his prime is kinda pathetic, the guy is almost 40 and it won't mean half as much as if someone did it say 5 or 10 years ago. I think that's the part that bothers me the most, the fact that people are just hoping father time has caught up to him and he loses so they can say he was never that good to begin with. The Stipe fight made perfect sense to me, two aging legends with one foot out the door, coming out for one last big payday. The amount of people triggered by that fight was mind boggling.

I could not agree with this sentiment more. I get not liking Jon I really really do but, but I do believe in Seperating the artist from the art. Karl Malone was a great NBA player. R Kelly is one of the most amazingly talented RNB singers in the history of music. they are both Shitty people that I don't like, but I'm not going to lie about their abillities.

C'mon man lol. Jones and Stipe were NOT even close in terms of career arc. Jones 4+ years younger (extremely important years at HW, 38 vs 42) and Jones had beaten Gane (a relevant HW) easily in his last fight a year and a half earlier. Stipe hadn't even fought in 3.5 years and hadn't won in 4.5 years!

But honestly let's put the Stipe fight aside. Fine, legacy fight. All good, whatever. How about the year after? Why couldn't Jones just retire after that fight if he was walking away? Or if he wanted a "superfight" vs Poatan, vacate the belt. Instead, he drug that shit out with the help of the UFC.

And NOW...all of a sudden he puts himself back into the testing pool lmao?? I mean, forgive me for not buying the "let the poor guy retire in peace!"

I don't disagree with any of that, but STILL, that much hate because the guy won't fight this one fighter you guys all think he should fight, it just seems obsessive and bizarre, man I worry about some of you guys if Tom ends up losing to Gane.

It's weird, because almost every reply I get when I post this starts with "You guys..." The thing is, I speak for one person: me. And I was saying all along EXACTLY this: Jones can fight whoever he wants. Or not fight anyone. He has no obligation to fight Tom Aspinall. It would be great if he did because they sure look like the top 2 HW's, but he has no responsibility to do it. But if he's not gonna, he needs to vacate the belt so things can move forward.

And that's from me, but I saw others posting similar (if not identical) stuff. So this "obsessive and bizarre" behavior attempting to be attributed really doesn't fit plenty of people (me included) that may not like Jones or how he handled things but never assumed he HAD to fight Aspinall UNLESS he was going to defend the belt.

If Aspinall loses this weekend, that's MMA. Pretty sure you can save your "worrying", people are gonna be just fine.

The hilarious thing is you guys have all turned into what you professed to have, sat in your mum's basement desperate for a fighter you don't like to lose so you can once again enjoy MMA and cuddle yourself in your Jones blanket. The wrong is as delicious as it is hilarious

It fails the logic test

They can try and twist facts but everyone with an IQ over 60 can see what Jon did and what he tried to do

This 100%

Because their entire enjoyment of MMA is through a jon Jones lens they assume that's how everyone else approaches the sport

Its why they've turned into what they professional to hate - desperately hoping another fighter loses so they can enjoy the sport again.

But for us normal MMA fans, we enjoyed when Cain or JDS or Cormier or Stipe or Ngannou held the belt and we'll enjoy whoever comes after Tom. Because we just love the sport and not one fighter

Bro you’re obsessed, I’ve already told you several times I’m not a Jones fan and I’ve rooted against him in every single fight he’s had. But I can still acknowledge that he’s proven me wrong every single time and that after two decades of dominance he’s earned the right to pick an opponent and retire on his own terms.

As for mom’s basement, I’ve moved out of it way back in 2007, but whatever makes you feel better.

You’re about as convincing as Rocky

Why in the world would I try to convince someone of that, if I was a fan of his I would just come out and tell you I’m a fan, what the fuck dude. How can someone completely rational in the war room be completely deranged when it comes to MMA?
