Yeah, if you actually read the letter he wrote, he mentions almost exclusively intellectual/political pursuits in common. The one "social" thing he mentions is Epstein trying to get him and his wife into jazz. Unless you think a married, 85-year-old career academic is going to perv around WITH his wife as well.

Chomsky's been a public figure for almost 70 years and has a grand total of 0 allegations or rumors of improper conduct. Hurting the feels of chauvinists and imperialists everywhere isn't a crime.

It would be symmetrical to claiming that France was guilty of genociding Native Americans merely because it supported the American War of Independence and continued commercial relations while the United States expanded westward.

That ultimately was my point. Chomsky claims that US Presidents are guilty of the crimes that are committed by people, who they sell weapons too.

It is true that you could be indicted for enabling it, but that is a different conviction all together.

Yeah if course it’s not the same charge but depending on the level of complicity it can be almost as bad. For instance I wouldn’t really hold it against us for supplying Israel prior to 2024, but after they’ve gone full on supporting war crimes and randomly bombing neighbors that include our allies, I’d say it’s pretty damning that we keep supplying them.

This was always the problem with releasing the files. Theres no hint of anything inappropriate from Chomsky and this is just gonna be guilt by association from his detractors. Epstein had a hell of a client list, but that doesnt automatically mean they were involved in anything scandalous.

Yeah, there’s no evidence he was involved in child rape, but it’s hilarious how a man who spent upwards of 60 years of his life moralizing American foreign policy to behave like this.

This is the same man who criticizes the US for supporting Saddam in the 80’s and overthrowing him later, but remained friends with a child rapist after he was known to be a child rapist and was continuing to rape children.

I’d say “the hypocrisy is the worst part” but Noam was never hypocritical, because he made no apologies and just threw a tantrum at people questioning his private relationships with child rapists.
