Why, if the nazis were left wing, did they specifically target the left, minorities and the media? How did a party led by a man who explicitly disdained the left and advertised these beliefs in his manifesto (easily the most popular book in the nation during the nazi period) be leftist?

Are you still tripped up on the nazis somehow being socialists and leftists because it was in the party name? Surely you can't be that stupid.

Then again, you were one of the most hardline stop the steal guys...........

He was part of a post-war movement to pin Nazi atrocities on the German elites, like Fritz Thyssen, instead of the ordinary Germans who actually pulled the triggers, for their own economic benefit. It's the old "better the Nazi boot crushing your throat than the Stalinist one." But that was a false dichotomy, since there were 30+ political parties during the Weimar era, and there were way more choices than Fascism vs Communism.

Seriously, open a book sometime.

As with everything - it's complicated. You can't just put everyone into left or right boxes. Hitler had some socialist ideas, he was a populist and of course, an authoritarian. This notion that you are either all left wing or all right wing is a new concept and isn't based on reality.

he did like like socialism, nationalism, was conservative in his politics. If you looked at FDRs socialism of the 1930s it’s almost like a mirror image of what the socialist policies of the German state at the time.

Another poster here was using real life quotes from fascists about how they are socialists, that should have been enough but the left lives in this weird world where everything is rewritten to conform to political orthodoxy. It’s why their cult has brought us to now where LITERALLY, men are women. And it’s just not true, everyone knows it’s not true, but they believe it with religious fervor.

I mean....Hitler also "followed the science". Eugenics were a progressive idea and treated as dogma just like modern gender theory. He wanted to eliminate all religion, and was big on art.

Sounds like a pretty progressive guy to me.

Well neither, but I’d find trotsky far more “revolutionary” in the amount of chaos and mass murder he openly wanted to unleash on the world. Stalin just wanted ultimate power for himself personally it seems and worldwide revolution was secondary.
