people are correct that the zealous religious abolitionists did free the slaves. And if they ever hear a minutes of your liberal politics they’d box your ears in. These men if alive today would be so conservative, that even modern day conservatives would find them problematic.

If @EL CORINTHIAN sees someone with a Confederate flag on their truck, he thinks "that must be a leftist." Or so he would have us believe. But for some reason, "actually the Confederacy was good" rightists never seem to argue with "actually the Confederates were leftists" rightists. Because they know it's a game.

They were a third position between full blown socialism and "free market capitalism" which never existed but people pretend it was a thing in the west back in the day. The notions of what is left and right change with time and from place to place so trying to use this only two options to define the whole political spectrum is extremaly dumb. That being said yes the nazis were at least ecconomically closer to the the communist east, especially if we gonna consider the official urss economy ( relied a lot on the black market )
