Nintendo Nintendo Megathread, v.6: Switch 2 Edition

Nintendo is notoriously anti consumer and greedy as fuck. I think I'll skip this. Silksong shouldn't have taken this long to release and if it's a Switch 2 exclusive, fuck Team Cherry as well.

Sony not nearly as greedy and I don’t think it is an argument anymore. Sony gave us a nice 4 hour game that was free in Astro’s Playroom. Nintendo is making you pay for theirs. Sony offers substantial visual upgrades with new content for 10 bucks. We don’t know the pricing for the upgrades to games like Kirby Forgotten Land but probably at least 20. They charging 90 bucks for a kart racer……. even the massive multi hundred million dollar produced games Sony makes are 70. Perhaps the worst part is the console has a button on it that you can’t even use unless you pay for a subscription service. That seems awful to me. I’ve always made the argument that Nintendo is the most expensive console, I even said that after Sony revealed the Pro price. Yes you pay more for your Xbox and PlayStation hardware but Nintendo never discounts and now their software is the most expensive on the market. Despite all this if you want one just buy it because they ain’t ever discounting this stuff. No point in waiting. Either refuse to buy or just get it from day one.
I don't think it ever was an argument, really. Nintendo has been openly hostile towards their customers forever. And I say this as a huge Nintendo fan who is going to buy a Switch 2. I think you're on point with everything here, but I have to disagree about the chat. I have seen a ton of angry comments about this already, but I don't understand it at all. You need an online subscription to use the chat that you use when you play online. Makes sense to me. Can you voice chat on Xbox without a sub? I guess I have never tried, because I never had any reason to use voice chat on Xbox without an online subscription.

If those are gonna be the prices for third-party games, I think Nintendo are gonna be disappointed. Steam (meaning steep sales) on handhelds is now a really big thing.

£80 per game doesn't sound great. I know that Switch games are great, but they shouldn't be more expensive that what we pay for PS5 discs.

Fortnite is a free online game that can use chat with.

wonder how the mouse feature will be, i imagine some 3rd party hardware company will make an attachment for it to make it more comfortable

While I am in favor of making digital games cost less than physical, those prices are insane, and have pretty much killed my interest
The worst part about it is you know Sony and MS are going to do the same now. If not this gen then at the start of the next one. I forget who started the extra $10 this gen (Sony maybe?) but everyone pretty much quickly followed right along.

I think it was EA with their 70 dollar NBA game

So Silksong got a 3 second clip announcing a 2025 release? Am I getting that right?

Fromsoft is compromised. Only Kojima can save us now. The golden age of gaming has died a quiet death.

Looks like $449.99 usd for base

WHAT THE FUCK?!

I think it was last summer I read that the Switch 2 was going to be $249-$300. How the hell did it jump to $449 for the BASE MODEL???? How much is the "better" model?

For that price I might as well just get the PS5 Pro. If the Switch 2 is over halfway there, then I might as well just go all the way and get the better console.
