Nintendo Nintendo Megathread, v.6: Switch 2 Edition

So, I have been playing Odyssey on the Switch 2 (docked), and I noticed that the system felt pretty warm. I thought, okay, the Switch 2 probably runs hotter than the original system. But now I have noticed that it always feels warm in the dock, even when it's just been sitting there in sleep mode. Is this normal?

Hmm, I just picked mine up after sitting in the dock for days and it was cool to the touch.

Could something be running in the back? Was it charging?

I just checked again, and it seems fine. Maybe I had a download/update going on, or I left a game running. I'll keep an eye on it. Thanks for the reply.

I've read that they can run warm, not an issue. If the temperature seems too high you can call them, they are usually really good about customer service. I've had every Nintendo system and never had to have anything repaired except for the Wii, and it was done free of charge and then sent back.

Holy cow I forgot that it was this week.

I need to get a capture card because people on discord are wanting me to stream.

I would definitely be playing it if I had a Switch 2. Way more excited for this than Mario Kart World which I think just looks okay. I'm not going to go crazy hunting one down though, getting too old and busy for that crap. Told myself I'll just check the Costco section each time I'm there and buy one when there is stock.

They’ve been up at Walmart for hours, apparently

I don't really care what the blue haired nose ringed critics have to say, I just hope that the people that enjoy platformers love it, I'll know Friday and Saturday at least.

Such a weird take to think that people who review games don’t love them. A lot are probably bigger fans of gaming than you are.

Especially odd since it's getting good reviews. The comment would only make sense if reviews were bad and had comments like stellar blade did.

I think I saw one in stock but it forced me to make an account and I was already sleepy. Thanks for letting me know though

Played for about an hour or so, I don’t think I’ve ever played something like this. You can quite literally destroy almost everything in the environment. There’s this incredible sense of satisfaction just starting to burrow through mines and not really have a sense of where you’re going then popping out in a completely different area. I realized I could have skipped an entire part of the tutorial if I wanted to because I could have dug under the hazard. It really goes after that shiny gold collection satisfaction that a dungeon crawler like Diablo has. You want to keep tearing up the environment to find more.

Visually it’s gorgeous, there are a couple of frame rate issues that I noticed during cutscenes but it plays almost perfect during gameplay which is surprising given the amount of things happening on the screen.

Really enjoyed my time with it so far and can’t wait to continue smashing.

Okay I got an Elgato HD60X so we can stream on Discord. I think I'm taking tomorrow off. I can't wait. @Dizzy @The Clark any thoughts on DK so far??
Only got to play for a little bit before work, but Dizzy summed it up pretty well. I was surprised how quickly you get into the action, especially compared to most modern games. No time wasted, just straight to smashing right off the bat.

I am not a huge Nintendo fan. I mainly play Mario/Pokemon/Zelda for nostalgic purposes. I have ever played a Kirby or Donkey Kong game, but it's looking like this one is a must-buy.

Switch 2 ordered but won’t arrive until around the 27th. Amazon gave me an invite. I’ll have DK tomorrow though lol. Might buy the Pro 2 controller through Costco

I’m definitely more interested in DK than Mario Kart 9 or 10 or whatever. Will probably still wait for Duskbloods to pick up a Switch 2, but DK and Metroid Prime 4 are probably the games I’m most interested in playing for Switch 2 (after Duskbloods of course).
