Nintendo Nintendo Megathread, v.6: Switch 2 Edition

Using the Joycon as a mouse is badass. I expected it to be jittery, but just using it on my couch cushion next to me functioned perfectly. I feel like this should be a game changer, but is going to be a totally neglected feature, like the IR pointer on Wii. When I am done with homework, I will actually play a game, lol.
so, can i ask what you are using the joycon as a mouse for, is it that wheelchair game?

i havent seen a single thing that offers any sort of useability out of it apart from that

So far, I just used it for navigating the menu and the E Shop and typing on the keyboard when I set the system up. It worked great, and I like it a lot better than navigating that stuff with the analog stick or d-pad.
I know Civilization VII supports it, which seems like a no brainer.

so when you click on what you want to do/play, i am guessing you then need to stop it being a mouse and stick it on the console to play a game?

they need to bring out an epic Picross game for it to even be slightly useful, just moving about the home screen????

That’s super cool. I haven’t tried it yet.

Pretty wild and I didn’t expect to see those numbers. Be interesting to see if it has anywhere near the legs as the Switch. I think the higher price point will hold it back from that level of success but this just kind of proves once again that the internet is not reality.

They must have really been ready for this. We went to Best Buy to feel some nostalgia and there was one there. The fact that there is still supply and yet it has as of yet the best launch in terms of sales really says a lot.

The last time I ever stood in line for a console was for the PS3/Wii and I swore I'd never do it again. I sometimes wonder if deep down I'm still that insane lol

The magnet hold/lock is really cute.

Anyone have any recommendations as far as travel cases go? OEM is like $40.00 - $50.00, wondering if the same amount could go towards something nicer.

Also if anyone's wondering-- the original Switch Pro Controller works just fine on S2.

This looks so much better than I initially thought. Still wanted to play it but what they showed today was genuinely impressive.
Yeah and now I’m upset I can’t find a Switch 2. This is the real system seller to me, not as big into Mario kart. It gives me some Astro Bot vibes with all the debris left behind when something gets destroyed. Also reminds me of Hulk Ultimate Destruction. Game was a blast. There’s not many games that allow you to destroy everything

The Donkey Kong Direct was super impressive. The game already looked great, but now it looks amazing. The voice acting for Pauline is also really good when Nintendo isn't really known for that and it was just ok in BotW and TotK. Not getting a Switch 2 until later in the year but this makes me really want one.

I was able to upgrade Tears of The Kingdom for free. Goddamn this looks amazing in 1440p @60. Was looking for an excuse to play this again. Donkey Kong is going to be unbelievable. Metroid will most likely be holiday season

I’ve been the absolute hell out of Mario Kart World. I probably haven’t played a Mario Kart title like this since 64. I love the chaos with 24 players and the mechanics just feel so good, grinding, wall riding, the tricks and shortcuts some people are pulling off is insane. The tracks are well designed and the soundtrack is stellar. Not to mention the game looks great.

Really the only complaint I have where I feel it’s a step back from 8 is when you’re racing in the water. It just feels like a slog depending on who you’re playing as. Otherwise though, it’s a blast.

How'd you manage that?
If you have a Nintendo Online Subscription as well as the original ToTK and/or BoTW, you can upgrade them for $9.99 each. If you have the NOS Expansion Pack too, you get the upgrades for free.

Dude it's glorious. I know not everyone loved those games but for me, especially ToTK was nearly perfect gaming. It's very sharp image quality and the framerate never dips, not even in the Korok forest.

I didn’t know the upgrades were free. I have the expansion pack as well but when I checked out the shop they were still showing as $10.

I don't think it's intentionally misleading but there is a less highlighted button to the left of the $10 saying "Download". There's a blurb above saying that if you have the Sub plus exp you can download it with no charge. If you haven't bought it yet take a look. I almost didn't see it
