Nintendo Nintendo Megathread, v.6: Switch 2 Edition

I’d like to see more Disney titles, or a good new Poke’ Mon. I can play games like these for hours at a time.

I love the spec nerds coming in here and bashing Nintendo. It happens every fucking time they release a new console. NOBODY CARES. It's about their first party games and yes people love them. I agree it's not the best console to own if you're trying to play third party titles but at least it can for those short on cash and can only afford one console.

This exactly. Iam not buying the Switch 2 yet. I am a big Nintendo fan but my gaming has dwindled a lot and I no longer play games when I travel for some reason so the desire to buy this is very very low right now. Maybe later. He’ll I haven’t even started the last Zelda game and I am self professed Zelda superfan.

But I find it funny that there several posters who have bitched about how weak the first switch was or hoped that the next switch was more powerful. They’ve delivered on a portable console that is more or less matches up to the previous gen (ps4) with tons of features and graphical capabilities and tricks and now people are bitching about the price. Lol

I bet a good chunk of the upcoming games will still be playable on switch 1. Unless you are a superfan then just stick with switch 1. People bitching about a kiddy console being too expensive then just stick to switch 1s… you don’t gotta run out and get the hottest new consoles for these little shits.. lol

"You sound poor. Just stop being poor. And in the meantime, don't emulate our games!" - Nintendo, probably

Is there anyone actually planning to get this day one?

I am planning to pre-order the Mario Kart bundle. Despite how badly Nintendo has fumbled almost everything here, I am actually excited for the Switch 2.

Also, Nintendo is supposed to be for kids. I mean, anyone can play it and have fun, but it's the primary "kid" console. I'm in Canada where it's gonna be closer to like 600-$700. Imagine paying that, plus another $100 to purchase a video game for your kids, and this is before all the bells and whistles.

If it genuinely costs that much to produce that's fine, but I feel like they are pricing out their own fan base.
The Nintendo Switch sold 150+ million units. It's Nintendo's world.

Is this Atari and Sega's cue to venture forth from the land of dreams and fantasy, on a quest to reclaim their share of the console market?

Only time can tell.

- I love plataform games.

I'm getting one so when it does get hacked it will be worth more

Wow...DK (Tears up the kingdom) Bananza also costs more than PS5 and Xbox games in Canada.

Mario Kart world is $110 solo and effectively $70 in the bundle in Canadian $.

In a press release confirming a new April 24 date for Switch 2 pre-orders, the company revealed that Mario Kart World will cost $109.99 in Canada. We had expected the game to cost in this price range here, given the US$80 cost, but now we know definitively. On top of that, Nintendo confirmed that Donkey Kong Bananza will be priced at $99.99 in Canada.

Notably, these are more expensive than the $89.99 Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) that other companies charge for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S games. I
t’s unclear why Nintendo thinks its games should cost more than those on more powerful hardware.

Also worth noting that the price in the USA is still 449 for the hardware but in order to make up for the loss they have increased the prices of their accessories.

The controllers are 95 dollars.... that's a lot.

It looks like a nice console but I think with all the stuff coming out on PlayStation (I'm including third party obviously) I won't have much time for a second console anyway.

I have no idea what kind of fuckery will continue with the tariffs and prices so I went ahead and preordered.

I missed my email from Walmart yesterday saying that preorders were up, and they're already sold out. Damn.

Bummer, I went through Best Buy. They launched their preorders like 40 mins later than the midnight start and then took me another 20 mins in queue.

Did you get the Mario Kart bundle? I also signed up to get a preorder invite from Nintendo's store a while back, so maybe that will come through.
