Stretching.

Not enough, I should be eating more but the transition into working and alot of surfing and other physical activities have slowed me down. Im only around 140 but I plan on eating more and getting back into the swing of things once I find a new place to lift.

I like to eat chipotle before my workouts...you should eat more.

Eat a bunch of protein and carbs before bed...4 slices of bread will work on you...hardgainer :(

Ill definately try that, 4 slices of bread b4 bed.

Im a regular at a taco shop called Don Lucios. They know me pretty well there. By the way I just found out that my manager at cold stone used to train with Brandon Vera haha.

Wow, that is pretty cool about your Mgr...hopefully he isnt one of those guys who "used to train UFC"...

make sure the burrito place knows you like a lot of rice and meat in your burrito. I dont even have to tell them anymore that I want that burrito FULL!

Wash that nightly bread down with milk, and as long as you are eating plenty of carbs and protein all day, you will gain weight...

I dont think he is one of those "train UFC" guys. He told me he was primarily doing Muay Thai, and just trained with Brandon Vera for the stand up. Yeah I like to make sure they pack that burrito full.

And I did alot of stretching today, I plan on visiting the MMA gym tommorow "Poway MMA"

Poway Martial Arts featuring Poway Kenpo Karate, The Poway Boxing Club, Gracie Barra Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Poway MMA (Mixed Martial Arts)

and checking out their weight room/classes, and then deciding whether I should buy a membership to 24 hr fitness on top of that.

So all this stretching is to make sure I can hit depth ASAP as I will be able to SKWAT soon. Im pumped.

Nice lifting, you are really kicking some ass on those dips!

And shit, the DB press with 65lbs is very good too.

There are some serious blackbelts in the kenpo! If you do MMA just make sure you have good training partners in the gym, you dont want to be a punching bag and/or training with unsafe people. Have you ever done any standup fighting? Jiu Jitsu?

NIce job!

Thanks for the support man, the dips have been going well, noob gains and all.

Yeah, you have to be invited to spar after you get some experience, etc. It seems safe.

And I have a black belt in Tae-kwon-do. Its not from a total McDojo but its also not from a very legit place, its something in between. I've competed in full contact sparring during my stay there, but it also wasn't too hard to get the black belt.

First No Gi class today, drilled arm bar from guard a ton. It was fun though and the warm up was a good work out.

So I checked out the gym, and though it is expensive, its got free weights including a squat rack so you know they had me sold before I even took the class.

Did some deadlifts today, semi-light because i had no gi right after. And when I mean semi light I mean semi light for my weak back.

185x3x3

I plan on going by Rip's progression for as long as I can so I was supposed to start semi-light anyway to give room.

Nice work in here.

I agree with joe, I found that post pretty interesting. Just like with lifting, forum posting can be very dogmatic.

Are you training multiple diciplines at Poway for "MMA" or are you strictly doing BJJ?

^^^ strictly "karate" 1977 style

Jean-Claude Van Damme style. Im gonna win the "bloodsport" style Kumite.

Yeah I just thought it was a fairly interesting article. It says he lifts weights even though people say he doesn't. Everyone is just so used to the "how do I look like GSP" threads that they expected me to post in the same fashion. I thought I would get it worse then that so I stuck around the thread long enough to make it clear that my intentions were purely to initiate discussion. Thank god they got distracted by arguing over whether Fedor is a S&C noob or not.

However they didn't take into account that I do not want the physique of Fedor so why would I copy his methods, clearly lifting weights makes you slow and fat and bald and Russian.

For the record the MMA gym is simply affiliated with the kenpo karate gym because they were opened by the same people. However they are in different buildings and have different instructors.

I am currently doing No-Gi, and plan to move onto the MMA class once I have built a foundation, and will also be taking boxing and kickboxing along with riding out noob-gains in my lifts for as long as possible.

No-Gi class, worked on rolls out of turtle position. Hit the weightroom after, I was pretty tired so I only did a little bit of lifting.

I can hit much higher but Rip says if I want to ride out gains for as long as possible I need to leave growth room and increase weight by 10+ each week.

Took a boxing class, bag work, some conditioning, some footwork drills etc. It was tiring

So Im resting up watching the Pankration team prepare for their tournament and bam, they need a training partner for their 135 guy, who is a 17 year old blue belt with a gold in both No-Gi, and Gi at Grapplers Quest in Las Vegas. So clearly I got outclassed on the ground and was tapping out alot. However highlight of the night was when they told him to "take him down, you're strongest on the ground". He goes for the double, I wasn't having any of it, then he moves on to try a couple of trips. Still no takedown. Finally he goes for the hip-toss, and I reverse it and toss him down with a head and arm and land in side control. The coach was impressed I think.

From there the guy quickly replaces guard and submits me =P. Still good to see I still got it in the wrestling department though.

From there the coach had us do some conditioning which was basically a bag circuit for 3 rounds which were 2-2-4 minutes. It was tiring but I think I kept up well even though I had just taken a boxing class which was basically the same thing for an hour.
