Greg savage was saying on sherdog radio that diaz seemed a more mature figure about the shows now apparently because he has a serious girlfriend I'm not sure if this has something to do with him calling for bigger paydays too.

Still though as slow as his arm punches are I can't believe he has as much success as he does against mma fighters against pro boxer's he'd get mirked.

Paul williams seems like an example of a similar prototype a tall lanky southpaw who throws a similar volume yet he throws 10X faster and presumably way harder too.

Nick gets away with his style in mma for a very good reason, here's why: All of his opponents are much smaller than him, giving him a distinct and overwhelming reach advantage. Normally, the solution for a smaller fighter is to close the distance and stay on the inside of a larger opponents punches, that said, nick's opponents remain in his optimum striking range for fear of his bjj skills (which, even though it pains me to say it, are fucking top notch). If he fights a boxing match, that threat is gone, so I see any good boxer closing the distance and kicking his ass. Nick should understand that it's his bjj that scares his opponents into standing back in his range rather then the superiority of his boxing.

It just goes to show what a coward Diaz is though... People who don't know about boxing/MMA fanboys probably have never heard of either Mayorga or Vargas. They will only hear "former world champion" and in the very unlikely case that Diaz wins, they will say "OMG THESE MMA GUYS ARE SOOOO TUF", when really all he did was beat up a guy (that applies to both Vargas and Mayorga) who is beyond washed up, and fighting 20 lbs over their normal weight class.

i dont think nick is worried about getting a beating. i think he's looking for some financial security. one good pay-day with a Mayorga type fighter and he can live much more comfortably. plus i heard he's thinking about getting married. let's say they negotiate and he makes $500 K. that is more than he will make for the next few years doing MMA. i'd say that is worth a possible beatdown.

also, i think he would be competitive for a couple rounds before getting stopped on cuts or TKO'd in the late rounds.
