Nick Diaz wants Mayorga or Vargas

500K? For Nick Diaz?

i said that number as a hypothetical type situation but i think if he agrees to this fight it will be in the 250-500K ball park. i dont think he's gonna fight a guy like mayorga in a boxing match without making much more than he makes in MMA.

I'd honestly love to see Diaz try this.

Not because it's a good move, but because he needs to get a serious reality check.

Mayo would clean his clock.

What if he gets Vargas? Anyone give Diaz a chance then? All things considered I don't think it's THAT much of a stretch. Anyone know what kind of shape he's in these days?

He'd still get his ass kicked by Vargas.

Fernando is having an appearence at LAX nightclub tonight and their calling it the "Comeback". I don't know if this is to announce a boxing comback, or if its just a play on words like he's "coming back" to the nightclub.

Not to say Mayorga or Vargas wouldn't beat Diaz easily, but if I remember right, most people thought he'd be unsuccessful in his one boxing match. Alfonso Rocha isn't exactly comparable to Mayorga or Vargas, but people in this thread are making it sound like he wouldn't even be able to hang with a guy like Rocha for a couple rounds.

Nick and KJ can beat cab drivers, they can't beat former champs.

Just calm down there partner....
I know Diaz would get killed...I'm just saying Diaz's best chance is against a brawler type, not a sharp, technical fighter.

I see what you mean...

Against Mayorga he would be put on life support before croaking, but against anyone else he would plain flat-line.

I disagree with that. Diaz is used to dealing with brawlers in specific ways, and there's a huge difference between MMA brawlers, and Mayorga, whom it should be evident by the rounds he won against Mosley, is a thinking aggressor.

Diaz might lose a decision to a technical type, but he'd have a punchers chance against someone who is a defensive specialist, but doesn't hit big. Against a guy like Mayorga, he might actually get seriously hurt.

The best thing for Diaz's longterm health might be to get put down quick by a big puncher. Getting 400 jabs bounced off your skull for 12 rounds could really mess you up.

"Though he is only 1-0 as a boxer, Diaz's MMA record of 23-7 should be enough to secure a bout against a respected boxer"

And why is that again?

Because Promoters are scumbags.

The same reason Couture vs. Toney was a co-main event. People out there would believe that Diaz has a decent chance against a high caliber boxer just like people thought Toney would have a decent chance against Couture. I guarantee you that some of the people laughing at the prospect of Diaz fighting a pro boxer were also people that thought Toney was going to KO Couture.

As ridiculous as Toneys crossover into mma was... he still had "a punchers chance".

Diaz on the other hand does not have that against either guy imo (assuming that Vargas can make weight)

People are retards. Especially so amongst us fight fans.
