I liked kapanen as a prospect but loved the trade. Its hilarious watching leaf fans around here griping especially after the HBK cup parade speeches lol

I like him too, but I could easily see him going nowhere in Toronto and then becoming a 70 point player after he leaves. I'm willing to give the Leafs the benefit of the doubt though. It's been salt everywhere all week, like "Congrats, but he's going to fuck you guys over when he ____". Sorry guys, you contribute to a Cup win like that you get a serious pass on future transgressions. I still can't bring myself to dislike Jagr.

I love jagr. But we got fuck all for trading him and normally the penguins trades are gold mines like trading barasso for tugger and going further in the yoffs than the sens. Hilarious that they wanted a guy who is about to retire and was worse than brodeuer in his laat season, and i liked barasso.

Yeah, it was a bad move, but I know a lot of people who hate his guts, and I can't help but love the guy. He could have ran for the KHL years ago, but he's still a superstar. I loved Barasso too, but that was hilarious.

By the way hockey folks, who are your Award predicions? I see a lot of contentious decisions this year.

Hart (MVP): Benn, Crosby, Kane
Norris (Best Defenseman): Karlsson, Burns, Doughty
Vezina (Best Goalie): Bishop, Holtby, Quick
Selke (Best Defensive Forward): Bergeron, Kopitar, Kesler
Calder: Artemi Panarin (Chicago Blackhawks), Connor McDavid (Edmonton Oilers), Shayne Gostisbehere (Philadelphia Flyers)
Messier (Leadership): Ovechkin, Tavares, Weber (Ovechkin? Weber? Alright)
Masterson (Perseverence): Jagr, Dupuis, Zuccarello
Jack Adams (Best Coach): Ruff (Stars), Trotz (Capitals), Gallant (Panthers), (SULLLLLLLLLLY)
GM of the Year: Rutherford (Pittsburgh), couple other guys.

I don't acknowledge the Lady Byng, that's pussy liberal shit. Probably goes to that SJW Kopitar.
My choices in bold.

if burns wins the norris it proves that the voters have strayed from their mandate

i think doughty gets it but king karl gets my vote as usual

i was being facetious bud, ronnie is the only HNIC host i know as i was in kindergarten when dave hodge hosted

help me understand something. Is this Pavel-Detroit thing not good for Detroit? Tehy have a $7M cap hit, without having to actually pay any real money, right?

So wouldn't a floor team trade something of value (even little value) for that cap hit to get to the floor, without having to pay any real money?

Basically, but it would likely be Detroit having to trade something to the floor team for doing them a solid. It all really depends on how competitive Detroit sees themselves next year, if they could use that cap space nab a big free agent, they'll need to pull the trigger on a deal. If they think they'll suck anyway (very likely) then they might just keep it.

Leafs rebuild is actually looking nice. I'm excited about watching it unfold.

Don't like the term, and the hit is a bit much.

Pretty meh imo.

Still better than what they are running with with Bernier and Stalock (whoever the fuck he is), and Sparks still has a way to go before being anything but proven.

Buffalo picks up Hobey Baker winner Jimmy Vesey (NCAA's top player) off Nashville for a 3rd round pick. Good for Buffalo, tbh.

Stalock is a massive can.

Sharks traded for some kid -Maxim Letunov I have never heard of, but he sounds pretty skilled and had a good rookie season at Ucon. 6'4 and 170 pounds though so someone needs to give him directions to the gym

Not mad about the Anderson move but not crazy happy about it. You know what you'll get from him which is good not great goaltending and the contract is a touch longer than I'd want but he's a good goalie and we desperately needed one so how mad can I be.

Bobby Mac said it well no one would bat and eye if the Leafs took a goalie with that 30th pick so basically on the trade aspect is it worth adding a second to get a for sure NHL starter or gamble on an 18 year old coming good eventually. And since goalies are voodoo I'm on board. Plus Lou is gifted at finding starting goaltenders so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Personally I would've liked them to wait until the Vegas draft and see what they could shake loose from teams that didn't want to lose a great guy for nothing but I'm not mad about having a team worth watching next season at all
