Ngannou s striking is trash

Why aren't there any gifs of Gane feeding Francis stiff jabs and straight s all night? And all those spinning elbows and kicks, he even threw a Yair elbow, he was piecing him, Francis just has a brick for a face

I dunno, most of that stuff didn't land clean.

Francis is powerful but his KO threat is gone after the second round. He seemed to be a lot slower but still strong. I think his knee injury is a bit of an exaggeration. He came in lighter than when he did for Stipe. He must been doing his roadwork for this fight or he got injured the week of the fight.
How'd he win the belt?

This was not the same Ngannou from the last Stipe fight. Go watch that fight. He was bouncing around and MUCH more explosive. He could burst with fast 1-2s that caught Stipe clean a few times and Stipe has some great footwork himself too.

In this fight, Francis was completely flat flooted, pretty much just walking forward not even in a fighting stance. He looked geriatric. Healthy knee Francis would destroy Gane standing too IMO.

Ngannou lost the first two rounds, you know the rounds where he had a full gas tank....

He won because Gane went for a submission after he had won the battle for top control and could have L&P just as Francis did and won the round?

So how did Gane not lose himself that fight by going for the sub attempt?

I thought you said he won because Francis broke his leg.

Let me get this straight Gane didn't come in the best shape for the biggest fight if his life and gassed?

Did his broken leg cause him to gas or was it Ngannau's L&P?

Perhaps he didn't train properly?

Which is it?

Lol yeah I'm sure that was a genuine offer. Instead of trying to unify the belts or face a mandatory contender he's going to face a guy who to be honest hasn't shown he's a major draw and had to resort to lay and pray to beat an MMA fighter. Not happening. Beating Ngannou does nigh on if not actually nothing for Fury, he'd get paid more to fight Whyte let alone Joshua or Usyk.

Lastly let say's there's even a tiny chance it's actually a legit option for Fury, which as I've said I highly doubt, Ngannou would end up getting something less than 10 percent of the split, Ngannou would likely make $2-3 million tops.

You wrote a book to basically say I was right.

He must've won by submission, that's why Stipe was laying on the ground unconscious In the second round.
Oh you meant the Francis and Stipe fight. My point still stands. You just don't understand what after the second round means.

I rewatched the fight, and do not feel the same way I did originally. The commentary was very bad for this fight and distorted a lot of what actually occurred.

I think Francis was injured and because of that he clasped his arms around Gane for the last three rounds and still got out-struck, outwrestled, and is champion because of some bad visuals and body language from Gane. Gane made some bad decisions but he still did enough to win.

Nobody dominated anything that grappling was absolutely embarrassing from both guys. Dude on top no idea what he’s doing dude on bottom no idea what he’s doing. It was a miserable display of grappling top to bottom

Among the blind the one eyed is king. I'm not saying Francis would rival Gordon Ryan but swept and took Cyril down numerous times, to say he didn't dominate the grappling is naive at best.

He's a MMA heavyweight brawler. I don't think you can expect much more from his striking.

Clearly he was affected by something during the fight, he's usually more explosive.

Gane turned Ngannou a wrestler.

It should also be noted Ngannou was outwrestled during every single exchange during the first two rounds, when both guys had full gas tanks. Francis only started outwrestling Gane after he slammed him to the ground and seemingly broke his leg. Props to Ngannou for that but Francis demonstrated he is worse in every single facet of MMA.

Ngannou lost the first two rounds on two judges scorecards.

... and then won the next three rounds.

No I said it's it's all talk and has nigh on zero chance of happening, and in the tiniest chance it would happen he'd make peanuts compared to all the talk of him making 10+million. Guess you didn't read the book.

LOL dude can’t wait for you to eat your words. You were the same when there was talk about Conor going over to Boxing when Mayweather asked for him.

Fury gets what fury wants and what he wants Francis.

Well, he was never known for his slick combinations and distance management coupled with variety of punches and kicks. In translation, he was never a great striker. He uses what he has with very good success rate.

You're not wrong, Ngannou had nothing for Gane's outside movement and he was gassed after one round lmao- he basically won this fight only by laying on Gane

Gane's wrestling is pretty trash though

N'Gannou swept Gane when Gane was trying to step over his guard.

Gane went for the heel hook in desperation after getting swept. And it failed.

No idea why people are pretending the heel hook was a mistake that led to N'Gannou getting on top

Saying Ngannou's striking is trash because he didn't have much for Gane on the feet (like the entire HW division hasn't), is like saying that a fighter's grappling sucks because he's not particularly competitive with Khabib on the ground.

We knew how good Gane is in the standup. His technical striking and movement is still unlike anyone's I've ever seen at HW. Maybe give him a little credit?
