Ngannou is rumored to become an MMA free agent at some point this year, he should return to the UFC

That's basically my point. What does the UFC have at HW if Jones retires? Tom needs a dancing partner to sell a big fight after 2 years of blue balls now, if not Jones, Ngannou would be the only other name that would make a big fight for Tom.

Tom vs Blaydes 3 won't sell for shit.
Tom vs Gane. Looks bad since Jones beat him quick

Dana and Francis made it personal. I don't think he's comming back. Francis went after the whole UFC and everything they are.

Pfl not even wanting to book him again ? A lot of money for minimal return.

Who is the winner. Francis.
Loser - UFC competition.

Taking out the belt bullshit, I believe UFC needs Francis more than he needs them at this point. The Heavyweight division is arguably the weakest/shallow division in the UFC when it should be the strongest. Dana needs tp put his ego away and being the best talent possible in regardless of the personal shit.

Yes, they are saying his contract included a termination date clause, meaning it will end at a specified date which may be coming up soon.

Love it or hate it, Ngannou really got the sweetest deal possible out of PFL.

Yeah, he ripped them off so hard. Serves them right though.

How hard the PFL got screwed on that deal. All that money and all those concessions only for the dude to hang around in boxing for a year, completely tank his stock by getting his head taken off inside 5 mins, then come back to MMA finally to have one fight against Renan (who they had to pay $2mil minimum as per Ngannous contract, right?) that nobody cared about. Now he will probably just leave and come back to the UFC anyway.

Even if the Ngannou signing doesnt contribute to outright killing the PFL, it will definitely have killed their ambition to try and compete with the UFC anytime soon. That was their big play, their coup, it seemed like a huge deal, but in the end they didnt even make a dent.

Dana needs to put aside his personal grudge. Francis is still technically the UFC lineal HW champ as he never lost the belt to anyone in the cage. Either a fight with Jones or Aspinall would be huge.
he doesnt wanna defend against jones and ran away
risk losing to jones = no boxing fight
after he fought gane he looked like crap

he should try to fight in the ufc though
but dana wont hire him if hes gonna demand ufc africa
fighters benefits fighter salary increase and many more

Yep. It actually would make a significant difference for Tom to have one opponent outside of Jones rather than none like he has now. I don't think it will ever happen. The butthurt is just too strong with Dana. He's petty about grudges, he wouldn't do it just for the fans.

I'm sure Vincent might be greedy but he always respected his talent. He would be the first to tell you how hard there job was and they were extremely important. Dana believes he is the most important and that the fighters are peons. He doesn't even care about the money it's just about controlling a bunch of the baddest dudes in the world.

Was with you until you said Dana doesn’t even care about the money.

From Einstein to peon real quick!

I doubt he'll be able to find someone to massively overpay for him this time around.

Seems like the biggest issue would be whether or not Dana will allow for more "freedom" in his contract this time.

I'd love to see Francis back in UFC, it would be awesome, but I just can't see it happening and Dana is so spiteful, he wouldn't allow it for his ego

He is not coming back to the UFC. He brings so little to the table at this point that he would have to be humbled with a massive pay cut and a couple non-title fights.

He is going to be 39 this fall, has only fought one MMA fight in the last three years. And that was against an unranked opponent (who looked scared of him) and it still took nearly 4 min to get the KO. Magically somehow that got him a #3 ranking...talk about Unicef level charity.

Bringing Franky back would be like bringing Brock back a couple years after the Overeem fight.

He wants to fight once in MMA and twice in boxing before retiring
I don't think the UFC will be interested

Already? But he hasn't even had time to turn PFL into a fighters' rights sanctuary or make PFL Africa the #1 promotion on that continent!!
HAHA some of us saw this coming but nobody wanted to hear it. how many MMA fights did he have in PFL no my friends Big frank wants box... skip the line and be champ in boxing has 0 cares about MMA... ( on lighter note) yeah DANA probably doesnt want him boxing tho he did starting a boxing company ;)

Only if fighters get health insurance and are allowed to box. Surely a man of principle wouldn't come back to the UFC and change nothing about the sport.
He's changed it alright, gonna be a lot of free agents when pfl goes bankrupt because of him. But at least he got the African MMA scene on the map by getting all those African fights jobs. He totally wasn't just concerned with lining his own pockets
