Dana got mad and made the interim belt fight between Lewis/Gane in August.
Now Ngannou will end up fighting Gane in (probably) December.

I will then be 9 months since Ngannou beat Miocic if they (Ngannou/Gane) fight in December.

Since Tim Sylvia left, the HW champs barely ever fight, just always long breaks with mysterious injuries and problems. we are lucky to get a HW title once every 18 months after Sylvia (who actually fought)

I know you aren't, but you're taking what Francis said at face value... he and his management spin the narrative the same way the UFC does. That was my point, so many fans are very aware the UFC spins narratives to their advantage, but 100% buy anything a fighter says.

Not that I'm siding with Dana, but this trend of dudes winning a title, then wanting to take the next 12 months off and renegotiate their status while the division waits for them is pretty pathetic and needs to stop.

Great fighter, love the knockouts, but hoping Gane puts him away and he never gets the title again.

UFC signed a big deal with the Toyoto Center and they wanted Lewis fighting for the title. The date didn't work for Ngannou and he offered to fight in September instead. Dana wasn't happy with that answer and we got an interim title.

UFC needs to have something set in stone. I think if 1 year passes and they're injured or unable to fight then an interim should be created. They literally create an interim whenever they feel like it. Just anther reason why it's a bush league.

Ngannou fights for a living and is highly successful. Successful people ask for more money, and typically there's a counter offer. You'd be a dumbass to accept whatevers on the table, ngannou is an adult and has dealt with many talks over pay, I doubt he's a dumbass, read between the lines, life is not as simple as he said she said, negotiations happen between closed doors.

Dana needed a PPV main event for Houston...That card was going to have a belt wether Ngannou fought or not, the belt is nothing more, nothing less than that, Gane should be happy he gets an even better paycheck when fighting Ngannou, people and fighters give too much weight to this titles, more should be like Poirier and fight whats best for them.

Ngannou tried to outplay Dana and was denied an easy payday, a title defense and a loss revenge all at the same time. He got too greedy. I don't have a problem with that. First, Ngannou should learn his lesson and not be a diva. And second, we don't have the absolutely pointless fight between Ngannou and Lewis. Gane-Ngannou is a way better bout.
