He was genuinely interesting in Newark, make a little noise for bipartisanship but otherwise dulled by the senate. He’s media savvy, and he’s got a strong physical presence. I’m worried his uncertain sexual preference will get in his way during a national campaign.

It’s telling about Trump’s viability in 2020 that a number of candidates who would still be viable in 2024 are willing to take on an incumbent.

A few years ago, he would've been my front runner. In this new world though, he's likely going to be one of those clowns ripping the base apart with identity politics, virtue signaling, and cringey attempts at catch phrases and one liners. I agree with the first part of your post, but I actually think he's walked back his cheesiness over the past couple years. He still grandstands, of course, but he's dialed down the love and rainbows.

I have wondered this before. If a single man without family could be elected President. Or Woman. When Kirsten GIllebrand goes on about "how am I gonna explain this to my kids?" she totally loses me.
