Social Sen. Cory Booker set to release a book about his 25h Fillibuster

The filibuster is historically used more by republicans and he did nothing wrong or illegal. I pretty much hate booker but I was impressed. Senator byrd from WV (former clansman) used to filibuster for hours as did strom Thurmond for like 22 hours. It’s all part of the 2/3 majority and the speeches (one guy read a recipe book) are to influence or block a vote through attrition. My point is while stupid and obnoxious, there is absolutely nothing illegal about it

I was mostly being sarcastic. But how many of those people wrote a book about it immediately after, making profit off it?

Maybe if the cookbook he read was written and/or published by a family member or themselves. Otherwise those examples leave out that important part of the context

I mean, he's not dumb for doing it, dumb are the people buying it. This is essentially a gofundme.

Nobody on the left is talking about him after he signed off on two Trump's nominations.

He should be prosecuted.
Man, come on. He didn't invest the filibuster. Seriously. Blame the system if you want to complain that allows it to continue. He's not even the only one and there have been several 20+ hour sessions. "Prosecuted".

That being said, a book? To say what exactly? I didn't watch or read any of the transcript, but I have to guess at some point he started talking about random topics like seagulls or color coordination or something.

How many that previously made these long filibusters went on to make a book about it soon after and profited from it?

I couldn't say offhand. Probably zero if I had to guess.

Exactly, and they already have a publisher, a cover, a release date, etc, everything good to go just a month later.

Despite his “speech” not accomplishing anything meaningful, no viral clips other than him sweating like a madman and actually crying, no one remembers it even other than booker making an ass out of himself like usual

Why would a publisher pick this up when it will
Obviously flop, unless it was preplanned. Publishing companies have a lot of lobbying money in DC.

I was mostly joking, but it still is bizarre

Everything in this county is just one giant grift. I’m so fucking sick of it. You even had they one CNN anchor shilling his book and withholding news from the public to make extra money. It’s sickening how everyone is so phony. Crappy culture we live in

I can remember in the past there was a good amount of hype about the New Jersey Senator running for President. The uber liberal press thought highly of him. I can remember they were telling everyone that he was Presidential.

Today I'm not so sure many think so well about Booker. He tends to lose a lot of money from what I've read. He isn't as polished of a communicator as the press made him out to be. With the book deal on the long speech it sounds like Booker is to make a run for President. I would be surprised though if he went far in that quest.

He probably will make lots of money from the book deal though. Running for President can be a good money maker for some, at least from what I recall reading in the past

I think most thought well of him. He was impressive in interviews and didn't sound like a whackadoodle leftist.

For whatever reason, he cranked the drama and race baiting up to a thousand on the campaign trail, started crying n' shit, and became just another one of "them". It really was a swift fall from grace.
