184 and 197 this year at the NCAA championship should be a banger. I like Starocci at 184 and Ferrari at 197. Both guys seem to have serious MMA aspirations as well.

Tough to bet against Starocci. He’ll have a close one with Keck, for sure. I’m going Ferrari, as well. He’s tough to take down, tough to ride, and he’s a monster on top. Rumors up here are that Angelo gets the better of Buchanan in training. I think it will be AJ vs Barr.

I’ll go Figs, Ayala (probably wishful thinking here), Mendez, Van Ness, Shapiro, Messenbrink, Haines, Starocci, Ferrari, Gable

141 is a complete toss up for me. I was ready to type in O’Toole at 174—but my gut said Haines gets it done vs Hamiti and O’Toole. Id personally like to see Hamiti win it. He’s been one of my favorites to watch these last few years.

Angelo getting the better of Buchanan? Pretty impressive but I can't say I'm surprised. And yeah, 141 and the rest of the weights... tough to say, outside of Messenbrink and Gable.
 
You guys think Gable is a given over Hendrickson and Kerkvliet? I feel like so many of the top seeds (Gable, Starocci, Ferrari, Kerkvliet, etc.) have been flirting with NFL/MMA/WWE/BJJ that it has to be a distraction. The last time Gable won an NCAA championship was 4 years ago in 2021. He's the rightful #1 seed but I think we might see some upsets this week.

Nothing is a given, but I wouldn’t bet against Gable. He and Messenbrink would have to be the heaviest favorites to win titles this year. They were the first two names down on my the fantasy teams through my kids’ wrestling club.

Ferrari is a question mark because he hasn’t wrestled many top guys. He looked sharp at his conference championships, and he’s just a tough style to beat. That’s why I’m going with him.

Figs turned out to be a terrible pick. The rest are still alive.

I’m really liking Shapiro, Messenbrink, Starocci, and Gable picks. SVN will have his hands full with Lovett. Ayala looks game and will likely make the finals. Not sure that Haines gets past Hamiti—I’m looking forward to this one. Ferrari has been pretty boring, and I’d love to see Buchanan win it for the Hawks. He starts off like he did in the quarters, and he’s in some trouble.

LMAO at Gable’s terrified round of 16 opponent getting DQ’d in the first period for stalling.
 
Word on the street is that AJ is heading back to Iowa next season. I can’t think of a bigger downgrade from an entertainment perspective than going from Buchanan to AJ.

Stoked for Buchanan. Dreadful reffing all around tonight. Overall, they did themselves no favors with new fans tonight, aside from the dramatic finish at the end. Hats off to Hendrickson.

Hendrickson should win the Hodge. I think they’ll probably give it to Starocci because he won his 5th (which shouldn’t be a criteria); but Hendrickson as more dominant this season. Messenbrink was probably the most dominant, but I think lack of pins will hurt him in the voting.
 
Solid win for Messenbrink but Caliendo kind of got hosed with that incidental headbutt in the first period. Not sure how else they could have handled it since it didn't appear to be on purpose (though Messenbrink didn't try to avoid it either). But Caliendo clearly got his bell rung and I'm sure that affected him for the rest of the match.
