Nate Diaz and Jake Paul agreed to fight in MMA for rematch in PFL

Who wins in a fight under MMA rules in the PFL? Jake or Nate?

Diaz is lighter by quite a bit naturally, he is older by a lot, he is far out of his prime...but all those things said I would put money on him in MMA because Jake Paul has not responded well to adversity which is the main reason he fought Diaz in the first place because he lost some luster losing to a non top 50 Tommy Fury in his first outing as a real boxer.

Sorry but his entire promotion MVP is all about promoting him, the guy even made up a belt and gave it to himself lol narcissism on full throttle at every second. Once he faces serious adversity in an MMA fight e.g. cuts, gassing, being out of your element etc...Paul IMHO folds and shows the world what a bitch he really is. But as always there is that fabled punchers chance and sure if he lands early he could get some low percentage W...meh.

Mods: this is a mainstream topic and deserves to be in the heavies.

Diaz can't kick, Paul outstrikes him.

Jake Paul was a decent highschool wrestler, with a training camp intensive I think he would be able to stop Diaz's TD's, who has below average takedowns.

The fight would also be at 185, so Diaz would be extra skinny fat once more.

Oh the humiliation..

Edit: I'm no JP fan btw.
No,

bad habits for mma. Slip ducking rolling sideways stance, no clinch, no bjj

Idc about fighter bashing but Jake Paul is a bitch and picks and chooses who to be tough to.

That’s what a bitch does

You guys are looking at this all wrong. Jake Paul is here ti save and change lives. He's like Jesus....people hated Jesus back then. They even wrote story books about it. Most this forum hates Jake Paul.

Jake is making everyone rich. Who do you want to have bringing eyes to the sport? Jake Paul, super rich, good rile model, young, has giant robot OR Dana trying to tell everybody drunk bar games are the future?

<3>

Correct me if I'm wrong, but slip ducking and rolling is only bad against kicks / knees.. same with sideway stance.

Paul having no bjj is a big one, but Diaz's takedowns are opposite of elite.

Won't be easy for Paul and he could lose, but it's definitely very winnable for him.

Trust me, I'm not a Paul fan, but he took some really good shots from Anderson Silva and lost some rounds, then went on to knock him down..

He's not THAT bad at dealing with adversity.

Nate has literally never boxed in his life and barely prepared for this thing. Despite being old, undersized and fighting someone with years of experience on him, he cruised through without much fuss.

Highly likely Jake gets tapped in a MMA fight. You can't learn BJJ defense quick enough to get through 5 rounds with Nate.

Even if he drops Diaz again,Diaz could sinch in a leg lock like he tried on Masvidal. No way Jake in his whole life defends that shit.

If he was,he wouldnt voluntarily do this. But dealing w adversity in boxing means he can cover up with those huge pillows. He wont have that safety net in MMA.

I think contempt for both Paul's personality and frustration at the level of publicity he's received relative to his accomplishments is blinding some people to the reality that he very well could win. He's not a phenom in anyway, but he will be much younger, much heavier, on every beneficial chemical formula - legal or not - known to man, and regardless of his skill level he clearly takes his training very seriously and will come as prepared as possibly can be. Completely reasonable to believe he has a good chance to win.

It depends on how much time he has to prepare, and if he really can take the aspects he's gonna need for it. Not everyone is cut out for MMA.

I personally thought he looked worse in this fight than the fight with Fury,so he might have reached his ceiling. Also remember that even in the fights that Nate lost in MMA,those guys he lost to are capable of so much more than Jake Paul is overall.

I agree that there are many, many unknowns. For all I know, if they ever make it to the cage, Paul could get blown out in the first round. Based on what I know at the moment though, I think there is a compelling argument that Paul can win.

Are we assuming its a three round fight? I don't know how the PFL organizes its events.

They might,as that favors Jake for sure.

I'll add just one more point. In my mind, there is no conceivable way Paul and whoever is managing him would call for a match up that wasn't favorable for him. So far, the team around him has proven fairly successful in picking the right opponents at the right time. Call him a coward, or whatever else, but he is extremely selective in opponents and timing. I think that implies that Jake and his team know something about his skillset that gives them confidence going into a potential MMA bout.

They THINK they know, but they can be WRONG this time. I think the reason why they are doing it,is cos its their way to break into MMA fights, and the potential revenue they could get from that.

They could fight Nick, and Tony and guys like this and possibly win if they can get past Nate.
Disgusting but true.

Well, yeah, but we are all just thinking until the actual night.

Also Jake Paul losing an MMA bout doesnt really hurt his rep that much. Its worth the risk.
