Nassourdine Imavov might have been the biggest winner in the middleweight division based on what transpired at UFC Vancouver on Saturday night.

Reinier de Ridder entered the event with designs on making a statement in the middleweight title picture with an impressive victory over Brendan Allen, who stepped in on short notice as a replacement for the injured Anthony Hernandez. Instead, de Ridder faded badly, losing via technical knockout when his corner threw in the towel after four rounds.

Imavov, who felt that he had already solidified his position as the division’s No. 1 contender by defeating Caio Borralho at UFC Paris on Sept. 6, took a shot at “The Dutch Knight” on social media at the conclusion of the bout.

Imavov Looks to Be Clear No. 1 Contender

“Knew it,” Imavov wrote on X, ending the post with a laughing emoji.

Knew it 😂

The more Imavov is counted out the more dangerous he will be plus all the pressure will be on Khamzat Chimaev

Dolidze
Cannonier
Allen
Izzy
Caio

Man has more than earnes his shot, & I believe he will beat up Khamzat
Never understood why UFC tried to act confused/undecided who the #1 contender was until after Rdr v Hernandez, just based on how much they commentated and hyped them.

Imavov was the clear #1 contender for Khamzat even before Caio fight imo.

They are not in the buisness of establishing number 1 contender matches anymore, they just leave it up to the wind and probably betting lines. It's definitely noticeable and degrading to the overall product.
