Coach Explains Decision to Throw in Towel in UFC Vancouver Headliner

Well Reiner is not a bs talker so yeah I believe him having Norovirus , the guy is a warrior and gave it his best shot . It was his 5 th fight in less than year and his only loss in those 5 fights so yeah he can lose one fight and still be in the mix , regardless of the reason . I expect he will be back in 4 or 5 months if his health is ok to go . You can't win them all so respect to RDR

RSR has a good head coach.

His conditioning coach on the other hand

It's a gutsy call and the right call.

Round 5 would've been another 10-8 just like round 4 was.

The coach doesn't have to explain a thing. RDR didn't have it that night and he saved his fighter from further destruction. End of story

RDR and his team made the decision to take the loss, and live to fight another day. That decision is getting mostly respect here. Bo Nickle made that same basic decision vs RDR, and got zero respect here. Says a lot about folks here.

Right decision the fight was just getting more boring anyways. The fact Allen couldn't finish a guy who couldnt stand for two rounds is laughable

Allen's demeanor was just so relaxed and nonchalant in there. RDR was a sitting duck. Very surprised that Allen couldn't get him out of there. Zero urgency to finish a clearly exhausted and checked out opponent.

100% the right call , he could have strongly considered it after the 3rd round

What's the purpose of throwing in a towel? Guy was getting his ass kicked if you're gonna throw something in have it be a steel pipe or something

fuck's he gonna do with a towel?

Should be normalized behavior, really. Koschek vs Lytle still lives in my memory. If it's for the belt, I can understand it- Hominick Vs Aldo comes to mind- but coaches know if their fighter is done. We as fans just deify those who go out on their shield, until they leave in an ambulance and head to the hospital- by then it's on to the next fight.
