My take on why Tom Aspinall has lost a lot of credibility since the Gane fight

That is a crazy take I’m not gonna lie. Gane is known to be a dirty fighter, who knows whether the eye poke was intentional or not. I don’t think it was personally. I don’t believe either man felt like they were losing the fight, both men knew Gane was probably ahead on points but that’s a different thing. Nothing in that first round or Aspinall’s career points to him wanting a way out.

This is why I think a lot of people talking shit are just biased Jon fans who are still upset that Aspinall took Jon’s balls. Their claims of Tom quitting are unfounded and they’re judging him by their own cowardly standards - but hey, that’s why they’re Jon fans in the first place. His cheating makes no difference to them, so why would Ganes matter?

Certainly. Why else would Gane commit maybe the worst intentional double eye poke in UFC history? Because he felt like he was comfortably winning? It is legal. It happens all the time. It’s a foul when you eyepoke your opponent. An eyepoke and posting off of someone’s head are not the same thing.

Also, I have seen the fight numerous times and I cannot seem to pinpoint how he was "beginning to work his way in". Ciryl avoided the takedown and was displaying excellent defense against Tom's shots while piecing him up with the jabs. It was not a 10-8 round like most Tom haters make it out to be but Ciryl was piecing him on the feet.

Framing isn’t a wrestling move. I saw it live. It wasn’t intentional. Nothing that occurs that quickly can be intentional. Although I will admit - between laughing at how the fight was playing out, it’s possible I missed some key details.
