Limelight My big stupid hype trains thread.

Good day for wrestlers. Only one who lost out was Terrance McKinney. Really unfortunate because I'm a big fan but he just blew his tank way too quickly. Needs to cut out on the spinning shit and just get really good at boxing methodically, conserving energy.

Azamat Murzakanov and Cody Brundage pulled victory from the jaws of defeat in their fights. Neither was convincing but we'll take it. Tafon Nchukwi is now 2-2 ever since being signed by the UFC at 4-0. Again...I'm not a big fan of rushing prospects. I even think Brundage is too green, but this buys him at least 3 more months to become less green...

Damon Jackson prevailed over Kamuela Kirk. Kirk is one of those new age fighters, they didn't learn wrestling or jiu jitsu or boxing, no. They're the new unstoppable wave of fighters that grew up learning MMA. Damon has a ceiling for sure but I'm glad he is able in this stint to consistently keep the gate.

Cody Law won his fight, it was a small step up in competition but perhaps a bit too incremental. He's ready for at least a slightly bigger challenge, maybe like a regional guy who has 8 or more wins and 3 or fewer losses. Romero Cotton's fight is a laughable joke, but at least he didn't lose to that.

Polizzi won a great fight, I was really happy. Those instincts just kicked in so beautifully and he outwrestled Augusto half-unconscious. His wrestling is so technical and his wrestling attacks are very varied, it's beautiful. Great performance overall, I still think he's really small for the weight class and his striking is just not nearly up to par, but he can't be overlooked either.

Rabadanov took Wilson's O. Gadzhi has a ceiling himself but it's good that he adequately kept the gate.

Eblen still needs work, I think a more boxing heavy style would be more beneficial. But his wrestling is still obviously unmatched in the division.

Also, on the regional scene, Nicholas Meck improves to 3-0, so that's good. He's a guy to watch in the mid-long term.

Anything you're looking forward to on the next CW card? Going to watch the first fight between the main event guys and see if Hughes is worth a stab at what I expect to be dog odds.

Hughes and Vucenic for sure. I don't think Hughes will be a dog though, I think most people thought he won the first fight. I'll certainly take him if he is.

Tobias Harila Vs James Hendin should be a fun one. Harila fought like a bit of an idiot in his last fight though.

Then there's George Hardwick, Will Currie and Nik Bagley who I all think have good potential.

Gabriel Bonfim

Country - Brazil
Weight Class - Welterweight
Age : 24
Promotion - LFA
Record : 12-0

I don't normally do double hype training so I'll keep it fairly brief but Bonfim went even further up in my estimation after becoming LFA champion in an easy win over Eduardo Garvon. Incredible forward pressure, super fast hands to go with power and shot variety is just an absolute nightmare to deal with. Some of the best boxing in the sport imo. Then when his opponent tries to grapple he drops to guard in an d'arce style guillotine and gets the tap. Dude's next fight has to be in the UFC without a doubt.

Ismail Bonfim

Country - Brazil
Weight Class - Lightweight
Age : 26
Promotion - LFA
Record : 17-3

Almost as impressive as Gabriel Bonfim is his big brother Ismail. Like Gabriel he's got great hands although he takes a more measured approach than the pressure style of his brother, preferring to pick his opponents apart at range. I'd been very impressed with his opponent Andrey Augusto when he won a title in Russia, but Bonfim made him look very average in this fight, shutting down his grappling and landing at will.

Now on an 11 fight win streak and with his last loss being a 2014 loss to Renato Moicano, he should get the chance to come to the big show with his brother.

Eduardo Neves

Country - Brazil
Weight Class - Heavyweight
Age : 21
Promotion - LFA
Record : 4-0

Another LFA appearance and another impressive destruction from Neves. Last time he fought a 1-0 opponent, this time he took a 5-0 Andre Vieira and destroyed him just as easily. Seems to have genuine power and good speed for the divison and at just 21 years old, seems to have a bright future.

Record : 8-1

Yet another beast from the LFA Brazil show. Looked okayish on the feet but absolutely shone on the ground, absolutely dominating his opponent and going for a triangle from mount with a few seconds left in the round that was so tight his opponent still had to tap. Top control seemed exceptionally high level. Only loss is to fellow hype boy Vitor Petrino.

This has nothing to do with this thread, and for that I apologize, but what's going on with LHW Anton Turkalj?
I ask because I came across this: https://www.ufc.com/athlete/anton-turkalj

Why is he listed on the official site as retired? With his octagon debut today? All of his social media posts are deleted too.

Signed on for a Contender Series bout last year and got pulled out for some reason.

They add guys who are signed on for Contender Series and don't remove them if they pull out. Other guys like Simon Biyong are also on there

Cody Law is looking very impressive, really want see him take step up in competition and make himself a true contender in Bellator

Sometimes the national mma channel show LFA events, but i never paid too much attention to it.
Is it worth it? looks like they have some good brazilian prospects here and there, at least more than wallid jungle fight

Kinda unrelated but bilharinho UFC hype probably died i guess

It's definitely worth watching, probably 20 or so fighters move to the UFC from there every year.

Right on, I'll probably make a few shits n giggles parlays combining the CFFC and CW cards to go along my actual plays.

All 4 of these dudes have a legit chance at winning $1 million at PFL. They should really consider if they want to make a career out if it or be a UFC fighter.

Both Bonfim brothers were asking for a UFC contract after the fight so I don't think they'd be interested in PFL.

Yeah, I saw the interviews but thats what I mean by thinking whether they want to be UFC fighters or making a career in MMA. In sure the UFC wont waste time and will approach them soon enough to join them. However, we all know money talks, Im sure other orgs will make their offers, too, if they play it smart they could be making a lot of money. Specially if someone signs them as a package deal, kind of thing.

Yeah, we both know that won't happen though lol. I think most Brazilians would rather get a spot on the contender series for 5/5 than a 50k to show contract with PFL or Bellator.

@Hellowhosthat SD dumas fighting this week on Ikon card. He’s a highlight reel one of the top LHW and Mw prospects in America

Yep, got him in my MW top 10, looking forward to it.
