Cameron Saaiman

Country - South Africa
Weight Class - Bantamweight
Age : 21
Promotion - EFC Africa
Record : 4-0

Massively impressive performance from this young man against a much older and experienced opponent in De Beer. Really has impressive power for this division, seemed to hurt his opponent every time he cracked him. Unleashed absolutely vicious GNP as soon as he got the chance to get the finish. One to keep an eye on.

I just noticed and was surprised to see Felipe Froes not on your list. Got another good win today against Ramazan Kishev. I'd like to see him against Omarov or Tumenov.

I am guessing since he has 28 bouts and is 30. He is a good fighter, but not really a prospect

Askhabov bros have Luxembourg citizenship AFAIK. I don't think a visa should be too much of an issue.

Might be for Azhiev if that's true though, shame for them.

BTW I noticed Shara Bullet is training in Brazil and won the Arena Global LHW title at the weekend (although I haven't been able to find the fight yet), wonder what he's doing there?
So there is no English wiki page for Rustam Azhiev, but there is for his group, Ajnad al-Kavkaz, Abdul Hakim Shishani is his nickname.

Not sure he's really their style of fighter tbh. Very methodical.
Of course not. He deserves it, but the UFC and their ways.

Really glad to see in his last fight his wrestling definitely improved, even if his opponent is maybe not as experienced. Would be fun to see him in the league, I think he'd break a lot of people's wills.

Yeah, I'd like him to sign too, but a chubby, babyfaced Dagi with a name like all the other Dagis with a grappling heavy pressure cooker style who hugs his opponents in between rounds isn't going to interest them I don't think.

I think Russian fighters need to get themselves a nickname People probably wouldn't remember the name Sharaputdin Magomedov so much but Shara Bullet sounds fucking cool for example.

Its not just the UFC though - Bellator just cut Mamedov. No promotion wants their upper echelons dominated by boring Dagestanis, and unfortunately the vast majority of them are kinda boring. Plus, I don't see any of the major promotions signing Russians this year at least.

I didn't read anywhere that he was cut, but left voluntarily. Although admittedly I did limited research on the topic.

I think labeling some fighters boring and other fighters boring...obviously some are more than others. But it's a fluid status, and ultimately unreliable. I firmly believe that the most entertainment comes from the best fighters fighting. Just look at the past week's UFC 272 card. Devonte Smith and Kennedy Nzechuwku did not have reputations for being boring. But they're human. Smith used to be known as a big pressure fighter/finisher, but in his last fight he just got knocked out by Mullarkey, and that must have done something mentally to him. He came out against Klein and did head movement drills for 15 minutes and basically lost without putting up a fight. It was a tremendously boring fight. Kennedy Nzechukwu had also been considered an electric prospect but he froze up against the boxing of Da Un Jung. At least in that fight he got first round finished while throwing nothing. But because of how negative that experience was, the fear of getting knocked out, he threw nothing for 1.5 rounds against Nic Negumereanu, and basically only started throwing this fight after he'd poked Nic in the eye 3 or 4 times, probably the 5th or even 6th finally successfully shutting Nic's eye completely, getting a point taken and losing in boring and anticlimactic fashion.

So even a fighter who people think "he's not so good but he's at least fun to watch", if he is instilled with fear once he gets knocked out by good fighters then naturally as a human he'll draw back a bit because he doesn't want to get knocked out. I think a good fighter can become entertaining much more easily than a bad fighter can become good.

He was on there until I changed the rules. Not really a prospect.
Ok Rae Yoon is though?

Either way I'm interested in seeing what's next for Froes but not really interested in the Frodo re-match because of how badly he got beat last time. I'd like to see him jump promotions at some point. As a Brazilian it's not as hard as if he was Russian and if he joined say Bellator I think he immediately jumps into the top 5-7. UFC I think he's more of a fringe top 15 guy but still would like to see it.

I set 20 fights as the limit for fighters 27 or older as my arbitrary number. Yoon has 19 fights so he's actually out next time he fights.

Agree Froes would do well in UFC or Bellator.

To be fair, as far as Nzechukwu goes, he's usually very low output and only gets by on his physical gifts. His first showing on the Contender Series was dreadful.

Devonte is a clear case of someone getting chin checked into timidness however.

So 17 top 25 ranked prospects in action this weekend.

Do you have an eye on anyone in tomorrow's BFL card? Poulter/Mirzaei jumped out at me as a pretty decent fight between prospects, took the dog in that one.

Poulter looked impressive up until I actually saw some of his fights. Doesn't seem too athletic and his striking is very stiff.

Not really, probably going to watch the Sinagoga and Vogel fights just because I've watched their last couple.

Maria Silva

Country - Brazil
Weight Class - Strawweight
Age : 26
Promotion - ARES
Record : 8-0

Rather than choose to can crush to try and pad her record after not getting a contract on the Contender Series, Silva instead opted to fight fellow top prospect Ewelina Wozniak for ARES in what I figured would be a pretty tough fight for her.

Silva absolutely dominated Wozniak, looking stronger, faster, fitter and generally superior, routinely dragging her opponent to the mat, beating her in striking en route to choking her through her chin in the third round.

If she'd done this on the show she'd be in the UFC already, as it is I expect she should be in by the end of the year and I suspect she beats a lot of girls on the roster already.

I think Russian fighters need to get themselves a nickname People probably wouldn't remember the name Sharaputdin Magomedov so much but Shara Bullet sounds fucking cool for example.

This, so much this... all these Magomedov/Mamedov are the Silva's of Russia ^^'
And at least the Silvas looked different, had various skin colors and size, and recognizable tattoos & nicknames.

but the Magomedovs are all white dudes with no tattoos & the exact same Abraham Lincoln beard

Even looking fights/records up is bothersome with all these guys having the same names and looking the same.
I'm down with Shara Bullet though... they don't introduce him as Golden Boy anymore? Like in China at Glory of Heroes when he beat Blood Diamond?

At least Shara Bullet seems to have escaped to Brazil.

Yep, he's been on my radar for a while, really exciting highlight reel, and has a cool victory over Izzy's protégé in his first kickboxing bout
(at least from what I could find online, I suppose that wasn't his first fight ever? I mean, Blood Diamond does has a LOT of wins over 0-0 dudes, so it wouldn't be surprising from Mike to take on another débutant to boost his record a bit)

Anyway, I wasn't super familiar with his last opponent, journeyman Rodrigo "Buga" Carlos
(except for that time Satoshi Ishii beat him up wearing Cro Cop shorts a couple years back ),
since the only Brazilian promotions I follow are Jungle Fight and Shooto Brazil, and he hasn't been fighting much in either...

Looking him up made me realize that we did see him lose in Shooto last year, against interesting prospect & Shooto Brazil LHW champion, "King" João Paulo :eek::eek:undes
[edit: damn, I guess I can't write his name here? Fa.gundes maybe?]

"King" is only 7-0 so far, but hails from Nova Uniao Kimura (member when Nova Uniao was a guarantee of aggressive, quality fighters, kinda like Chute Boxe back in the PRIDE days? Good times...) but he was supposed to make his big PFL debut last month, against Bruce "Soldado de Cristo" Souto, and had to withdraw...

It's a shame, we can always use fresh LHWs from Brazil... I guess he's also on your list of prospects to keep an eye on?

I'm very often wrong when it comes to "fighters who will make it big" predictions, I hope I don't jinx those 2 <EdgyBrah>
