Limelight My big stupid hype trains thread.

Not really sure about Maslov, he got the win but he went absolutely life and death with Moreira and nearly got finished a couple of times.

Maslov didn't look good at all. Seems to have decent timing with his punches but that's about it. Looked very small compared to Moreira, who competed in LHW in the UFC and at a certain point in the first round when Maslov got mounted the situation had shades of Bigfoot vs Fedor.

But it was the fight IQ what was utterly terrible. Everytime he rocked or dropped Moreira, he followed him to the ground, despite being obvious the brazilian had nothing for him on the feet, and it happened a bunch of times during the fight. At one point he had Moreira wobbled and visibly gassed and turned around running away only to be taken down and mounted and later saved by the bell.

Very dissapointing showing by Maslov IMO.

Cheers

Not really enough changed in the rankings this week to make them worth posting (Ducote went up a few spaces and Frolov fell out), so I'll do them next week.

This week we've got.

I think he was just following him to the floor because he was so gassed himself. If he wasn't in such a weak division I think I'd be done with him as a prospect, but as he's a HW there aren't so many to go around.

Might be, but he landed an uppercut flush into the first stages of the fight wobbling Moreira and went for the TD right away. And in the fifth he connected a nice switch front kick to the face and followed Moreira to the mat almost instantly, and that happened inside the first minute of the round. Of course he could have been just grinding, because his cardio looked terrible also.

Very disappointing performance by Frolov too. I didn't think he was something special although I like the dude, and he could very well have snatched the win, but had nothing for Dzhanaev in the stand up and was stalling all over the place. I mean, the guy is as tough as they come, but is a plodder who doesn't check leg kicks at all and displays abysmal hand speed.

BTW, which brazilian promotion has the best prospects right now? Future FC and SFT have some intriguing newcomers.

Kudos for the thread, great read and better work.

Cheers

Frolov is hit or miss for me. He's frustrating because he has very good power when he lets his hands go but gets too tempted to get stuck into these clinch fests against the cage.

The Brazilian scene I'd say is fairly spread out. Future and SFT are indeed probably the best promotions, I'm hoping LFA make going there a regular thing as it was nice having a lot of the best prospects in Brazil fight each other on the same cards rather than being spread over lots of different promotions.

Flyweight Victor Altamirano on DWCS got signed. First time on DWCS that both winner and loser got signed they have lost so many great fighters hope this continues.

Kind of a shame it went the way it did for Diego, but I thought he fought well considering he came in on short notice and had to fight a beast like Brito. I'm hopeful he'll still get into the UFC in the next year or so.

Dana said Diego did well and he hopes he comes back, but avoided the question.. if he was invited back, wish he would have confirmed another chance for him. Dana just kept thanking his team for finding the best guys available.

If he is invited back, it will be for November show. Diego also said he needs to get his knee checked out so fingers crossed it's not an injury

Diego Lopes will definitely be in the UFC this year I reckon, Dana wants as many Mexicans as he can get and Lopes is apparently good - I can see him getting one win then getting signed directly.

Diego Lopes is not Mexican, though, he trains in Mexico.

I don't know what nationality he looks, to me, but he certainly doesn't look like someone from Manaus either from what I can remember!

He is Brazilian and for some reason trains in Mexico out of the same gym as other Mexican UFC fighters.

LFA 115 - Josh Silveira (5-0) vs. Tee Cummins (4-0) for the vacant LHW title.

That's a good fight, Cummins looks fairly good himself but he's been fighting pretty low-calibre guys to say the least.

Guess it's official your #8 Middleweight Alex Pereira - 33 (Brazil) 3-1 will fight in New York UFC 268 vs Andreas Michailidis.
