Limelight My big stupid hype trains thread.

Just a difference in levels, they should just have postponed the original fight instead of giving Keita this kid.

Keita looked fantastic amazing Handspeed and power, sprawling every single TD he could definitely beat a lot featherweights in the UFC.

Who is the LW champ in Oktagon? This kid, Tichota was just way out his depth.

Losene Keita is the LW Champ, right? He went down in weight to be a double champ. Jakub Tichota I'd decent too, his loss to Sanikadze was debatable and he had like a 14-5 amateur record before going pro. Keita needs to go a major promotion, it's time.

Sanikadze and Tichota just went to a split decision, I thought Tichota won even. Tichota is a good prospect, he was 5-1 pro and 14-5 amateur with experience in the IMMAFs, this was only the 2nd time in his career he lost by finish and the other was 5 years again when he was 18. There's no legit challengers for Losene Keita in Oktagon.

I read he was now the interim LW and FW champion, so I thought someone else was the LW champion.

Good to see former #1 WFLW Jamey-Lyn Horth get the victory in her debut

He's the LW champ and the interim FW champ.

Either way he's wasting his time in Oktagon. Imo he's the best Featherweight outside the UFC at this point.

About Kabardiev, he said that finals of Nashe Delo Grand Prix will happen mid-June and Abbasov said that he is fighting for Naiza LW belt in September (against Kabardiev).

My boy Bakhtovar might not have made the Bantamweight List but it looks like he's making it to the UFC

And the word is still that Samandar will have news about the UFC "soon" not sure if it's a contract issue or a visa issue or what but there was clearly a snag in the road, maybe an injury. That really just leaves Khalim Nazruloev as a Tajik Flyweight and Muin Gafurov as a Bantaweight who are top prospects to pick up now. Nurullo, Samandar and Bakhtovar if all pans out is a nice gaggle of signings.

Bekhzod Usmonov said few months ago in Russian interview that UFC interested in him but he would like to win Ikon FC belt first before signing with them. But I think he lives in Russia since he was 3 years old and graduated from school and went to army there so he probably not that much "Tajikistani prospect".

He carries the Tajikistan flag out to the cage, was born there and identifies with that. I don't personally care where a fighter is from other than I enjoy seeing the sport grow. Many of the Tajiks seem to train, fight and even live out of Russia, Nurullo, Bakhtovar, Samandar, Muin and Nazruloev anyways. It makes sense, gyms, regional promotions, managers etc are at the grass roots level for MMA in Tajikistan which in a way makes all these guys even more important to MMA in their country. Russia has the opportunity and resources for Mma.

I finally got around to watching a couple of his fights after the news. Looks pretty good, reminds me of Kerimov a little bit although I don't think he's quite on that level yet.

Believe he's just 24, he definitely lacks the refinement of a guy like Rustam Kerimov but I always wonder how much guys like these are going to improve over the next 3-6 years, a lot of fans like to assume that if someones young they will improve leaps and bounds but I find that's the case only maybe...half the time if that, a lot of guys with get a little cleaner technically, more experienced in their approach/infight decisions, sure up holes a little if they came up early enough but those Robert Whittaker type evolutions aren't as common as people think. One thing that does seem to make a significant difference is when they come into enough money for dedicated, specialized training/camps and the ability travel to cross train be it with high level boxers or just different MMA teams for more looks and coaching.

Just fun to see and think about. With Bakhtovar I see potential for real improvement, or Keita but then many prospects feel a lot closer to finished products. Glad he's trying to get signed and working with Dominance, hoping that's only good news for his teammate Samandar too.

Samandar is gonna get signed. Either directly or they'll find a random Brazilian to feed him on the contender series to make him look great.
