Limelight My big stupid hype trains thread.

I will have to check these guys out. Been out of the loop for a minute, but slowly making my way back in.

Cedric Doumbe

Country - France
Weight Class - Welterweight
Age : 30
Promotion - MMA GP
Team - Atlantide Boxe 87
Record : 4-0

Finally got around to watching Cedric's last fight against Klimas and I've got to say I'm very impressed with how he's developing. It seems to me that his pressure style of kickboxing is going to work great for MMA, just kept Klimas on the back foot for most of the fight, letting go with varied offence and murderous body work.

Seems to be developing a decent sprawl too as he read entries well and got his hips away to stop them. Generally I think this kind of sprawl and pressure style is going to cause problems for a lot of people and he's going to be a handful at a high level.

Park Si Won

Country - South Korea
Weight Class - Lightweight
Age : 21
Promotion - ROAD FC
Team - Team Stun Gun
Record : 8-0

Finally caught his last title fight from December and the ROAD champ is pretty outstanding for his age. A pressure fighter who mixes good hands with high kicks and can wrestle when he wants. Seems strong enough to hold his own in cage grappling if someone tries to grab a hold of him to keep the pressure off. Really good output too as he was really upping the offence in the 3rd round with combination punching and only his opponent being really tough prevented him from a stoppage win.

Kind of reminds me of a better version of Mikuru Asakura in a lot of ways.

Payton Talbott

Country - USA
Weight Class - Bantamweight
Age : Nobody knows
Promotion - A1 Combat
Team - not sure
Record : 5-0

While Payton's age seems to be unknown (even the promotion just had his age blank on the graphic) his talent is there. A come forward and throw a fuckload dude who looks like he can be taken down but perseveres to get back up and come forward and throw a fuckload again. Seems like the kind of guy who might lose a good few first rounds before wearing their opponent down with relentless offence and just a genuine attrition of pain.

Lajuan Davis

Country - USA
Weight Class - Middleweight
Age : 25
Promotion - Fury FC
Team - Jackson/Wink
Record : 5-0

I'm a bit wary of JacksonWink guys as a lot of their recent prospects haven't panned out, but Lajuan passes the eye test for me to this point. He's a very relaxed fighter who's quite happy for his opponent to come at him while he tries to counter which he does well. He's got pretty hard shots and can drop his opposition if he lands clean. Takedown defence looks perfectly fine and he seems to be able to sprawl and find his way on top where he also looks good.

Could maybe be the dude to break the recent run of JW guys sucking, we'll see.

Talbott is 23 going on 24.

Already hyped him but George Hardwick looked superb just then in steamrolling a good fighter in Liasse. Must get picked up for the July card surely.

Adam Cullen got shadow realmed though. <DCrying>

I am a bit shocked, I just looked up the next One Championship card and saw that Maurice Abevi is fighting.
Aside from Dulatov and Engizek, Abevi is probably the best Welterweight in german MMA, I am saying that but he is actually a swiss citizen.

Pretty huge imo, did not expect him to fight at a bigger organization already.

I thought Joshua van was going to be in the RTU tournament?

It was rumored, not sure if it was ever confirmed but I'm glad he isn't going to be. To be honest, that tournament is already too good and it didn't need more top American prospects in it who have an open door to the UFC already. Vans fighter profile was added to the UFC website, I think he's getting signed to some capacity even if it's the contender series unless he decided he wanted a little more experience first (he's pretty young still and started his MMA career late).

I'm honestly hoping multiple guys from this Flyweight tournament get UFC contracts or at least developmental-ish deals where if they win 2-3 they'll bring them back or on the contender series. Hyun Lee, Sumit Kumar and Rei Tsuruya are really damn talented.

Just promoted her to #1 flyweight on the tap lists too. They've pretty much emptied out regional women's 125 at this point.

Apart from somehow letting PFL beat them to Dakota obviously.

The stranglehold the UFC has over WMMA 125 is impressive. On a side note, I would have imagined WMMA to be a bit deeper.
