Limelight My big stupid hype trains thread.

Samandar is gonna get signed. Either directly or they'll find a random Brazilian to feed him on the contender series to make him look great.

Yeah, it sounds like it, I think the long delay has had to do with visa issues or an injury though. He's a fighter I'm relatively confident will go very far as long as he stays healthy.

He carries the Tajikistan flag out to the cage, was born there and identifies with that. I don't personally care where a fighter is from other than I enjoy seeing the sport grow. Many of the Tajiks seem to train, fight and even live out of Russia, Nurullo, Bakhtovar, Samandar, Muin and Nazruloev anyways. It makes sense, gyms, regional promotions, managers etc are at the grass roots level for MMA in Tajikistan which in a way makes all these guys even more important to MMA in their country. Russia has the opportunity and resources for Mma.
They outlawed mma (I suspect pro, amateur mma fights might be legal) in Tajikistan so it’s not surprising.
Also based on interviews it’s surprising how many of Central Asian fighters have connections to Russia. At Russian broadcast of ONE they said if I am not mistaken that family of Akbar Abdullaev lived there from when he was 6 years old until 9 grade and then at 16 he moved there to work; Shavkat said that he moved there when he was 16 or 17 to work (I suspect it’s not very legal for underage kids to migrate to Russia to work); Mukhitdinov said if I am not wrong that his mom and uncle are Russian citizens.

Interesting, is it banned in other west/central asian countries? I know it is allowed nowadays in Khzakstan and it used to be banned in Indonesia, I suppose some Gulf states probably banned it but I am suprised to hear Tajikistan banned it.

Tajikistan seems to be a weird one, they banned pro boxing and MMA, they called it a "gateway to violence" but they allow amateur boxing, combat sambo, Judo, wrestling and Tae Kwon Do...all very popular in Tajikistan too. The ban seems somewhat political, to prop up Olympic and national sports rather than anything ethical though.

MMA is legal in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

I actually looked at info in Russian and seems that in Tajikistan it's banned as in money of Tajikistani government should not be financing training/teaching.

Okay thats interesting, probably religious related reasons. I never looked into the specifics in Indonesia I only knew from relatives, that it was banned on TV.

So, kinda funny news. Firuza Sharipova complained on social media that Octagon promotion has not paid money to her and her opponent. Octagon answered that according to contract money are getting paid in 10 days after the fight and then cut her, because she and her manager refuses to fight good opponents and want only missmatches and Octagon are not happy with that.

At regional level this is actually super common across the world. She and her management want to take very winnable fights knowing that her boxing background and a decent looking record is enough to earn her a spot in a bigger promotion, a loss kind of ruins her brand in MMA right now or at least delays it considerably.

And of those countries, Tajikistan is notoriously the most sketchy apparently as a traveller.

Looks like Lucas Fernando is gonna be on DWCS too.
If you are interested Rasul Magomedov (Bahrain, acording to Wiki took Gold in 2019 at Wrestling World Cup at under 97 kilos and in 2021 at World Sambo Championship at under 98 kilos) in video interview said that he is soon turning pro. If I remember right he is gonna fight for some Middle Eastern promotion.

Makes sense, I would imagine BRAVE seeing as he represented Bahrain.

"Main reason -- many coaches doesn't have coaching specialization. They didn't went through real sport. Some are fighting abroad, conquer belts, and then open schools in homeland without clue about coaching work. Collect youth from streets and teach them not sport but just how to fight and a lot are coming to them to show their strength on the streets. Wouldn't it be better to promote national sports for example gushtigiri" mentioned main coach of national type of wrestling gushtingiri M. Odinaev.

A lot of these seem right, some I'm not sure about. Sweeney has a fight booked in LFA and Kabardiev and Abbasov both have fights booked (they also talked about fighting each other in Naiza later in the year.

Muin isn't confirmed yet either.

I've got a thread in the so you want to be a fighter thread for DWCS if you're interested.

Caolan Loughran

Country - Ireland
Weight Class - Bantamweight
Age : 26
Promotion - Cage Warriors
Team - Team Kaobon
Record : 9-0

Jesus, I knew this dude was good but he really levelled up tonight. Going away from home to fight another hot prospect in Dylan Hazan in Italy and just absolutely trouncing him on his own turf.

Caolan is a pressure fighter who throws everything tight and hard and is stocky as fuck and with a low centre of gravity and looks like he'll be super hard to take down. With that in mind the dude is coming at you throwing hard combos to the head and body with accuracy and power with front kicks up the middle whenever you think about changing levels.

Beat the fuck out of a good fighter, did a lot of damage in the 1st and got him out of there in the 2nd and looked absolutely big league ready.

So between "confirmed" and rumored that's like 37 fighters out of the 100 that will be on across 10 cards right?
