My ADD Training Log 2014

Good question - sorry for the lack of detail. These were martini's that I had at home, I used Skyy vodka, which, in my opinion, is probably the best "cheap" vodka. I also used a splash of dry vermouth, shaken in ice, with an olive. I had 3 fairly large martinis, which is at least 1 or 2 too many to function well the next day.

But it really helped my piano playing & singing that night, so.... pros & cons...

+1, moar Martini logging, etc.

These are Mai Tais and they are delicious :) And my wife is travelling with me this week, so I let her have one :)

Got back in the weightroom today. Lower back was tight, so this is all I did. After eating & drinking & not working out last week, I'm looking forward to getting some workouts in this week. Hopefully the back settles down pretty quick.

BJJ - 1.5 Hours

Back on the mats today after a week off! whew! Worked with Brian, a 280-lb purple belt today. worked on bottom turtle escapes, that's exhausting basically. Then I rolled 3x 8 minute rounds, 2 with B & 1 with an aggressive Blue belt. Did pretty well, rolled smart, but got really winded towards the end.

Went to the skin doc again today. Follow up from the stuff I had done to my hands & head last year. She removed 4 new warts from my hands. Which sucks. 3 were small, so they froze them, which means they are blisters now. 1 was large & they had to dig it out. So I don't know what that means for jiujitsu or weights for now. I might just try to tape things up really good so I can still train, I don't want to take any real time off.

Almost went to the gym today to try some stuff but my hands hurt :(

Birthday is next weekend, going out with friends to watch the UFC Sat night in downtown HB, then taking Monday off work to head downtown, drink beer & celebrate St Patricks Day!

BJJ - 1 Hour

Back on the mats today - 1st time since getting the warts removed from my hands. I basically pout a bandaid over the wounds, then a larger bandaid, then just taped the shit out of my fingers with athletic tape. It worked pretty well. The tape started coming off my knuckle towards the end so I left after 1 hour, didn't stay for sparring. The knuckle is almost healed though, so that's pretty good. I'm traveling to Atlanta on Saturday, then Charlotte on Monday, planning to train at GB Charlotte Monday evening if I can.

BW: 208.6 (after BJJ)

BJJ - nogi 1 Hour, gi 1.5 hours

Good training today, 2.5 hours straight. nogi I worked on some specific training from half guard and then back control, then 3 rounds of sparring. For the gi class, was more of the same, then only 3 of us stayed for sparring, so we just set a timer for 2 minutes & did round-robin with the 3rd person jumping in in whatever position he can grab at 2 minutes. It was a fun way to fill the 30 minutes. Really good stuff today.

Travelling for work this week, so trained at Gracie Barra Charlotte with one of my old instructors. It was great to catch up, haven't seen Diogo in a few years.

BJJ - 1 Hour

Got in a nice hour of training today, worked on regaining butterfly guard when someone is passing. Also got to work some takedowns, which is something I desperately need. Sparred 3 5-min rounds, 1 with a black belt, the other 2 with a couple of good blue belts. I defended pretty well, but got winded. Struggled in my last match against one of the blue belts. I just kept losing the underhooks in the scrambles... need to work on that.
