Wanted to provide a little more commentary around the throwing I did yesterday. The stones were really terrible. I mean WAY off where they should be. I think a lot of it has to do with some nagging soreness in my elbow. It's mostly from jiu-jitsu, but it just sort of always hurts - it's also sore to the touch, so no wonder it hurts when I try to put a stone.
So I think theres a couple of things I need to do about that. First, start icing & ibuprofen after a workout. Second, get back in the weight room & see if that helps.
I'm also having some trouble trying to figure out what to do with my schedule. Ideally, I'd like to to jiu-jitsu 5x a week, lift 3-4x a week & throw 3x a week. But that just isn't realistic at all. My wife is having some fairly serious back issues, so I have to do more work around the house, plus the house is still under construction from the flooding, and I actually have a job. Also my daughter has soccer tournaments pretty much every weekend, so weekends are out. So not a ton of extra time.
I'm going to try to keep going to jiu-jitsu anytime I can squeeze it in, but mostly that's going to be during the day, when I have a chance to get away from work. I'm going to try to do 1 evening jiu-jitsu class per week. The evening classes are important because they're harder. For lifting, I'm going on a 2x a week program, with the plan to just get the workouts in anytime I can. If I have extra time, I may do 3x a week or something. Also, to help me fit these in, I'm going to structure the workouts so they are only about an hour. Same thing with throwing, keep the sessions under an hour to help me squeeze them in, and shoot for 1-2 during the week & 1 on the weekend if I'm in town.
I'd like to compete at ScotsFest in Costa Mesa in May. I have 8 weeks to get my throwing up to par.
