This is false. Manafort was convicted on only 8 of 18 charges in the first case. Now in the second case, he's only pleading guilty to 2 of 7 charges.

The government would have netted far more if SDNY or another federal prosecutor's office had handled the case.
 
The agreement calls for a 10-year cap on how long Manafort will be sent to prison, and for Manafort to serve time from his separate Virginia and Washington cases concurrently. The deal also calls for Manafort to forfeit four properties and dismisses deadlocked charges from an earlier trial.

But it will not release Manafort from jail, where he has been held since Mueller's team added witness tampering charges during the run-up to the longtime lobbyist's trial.

And Mueller prosecutor Andrew Weissmann said dismissal of the previous charges against Manafort is dependent on him completing “successful cooperation” with Mueller’s probe into Russian election interference and whether the Trump campaign coordinated with Moscow on its efforts. Weissmann did not immediately expand on what cooperation is required under the deal.

Looks good for Manafort and Trump. Manafort will do a few years. I doubt he'll compose and I doubt he has much to sing about regarding "muh collusion".
 
Its funny seeing the right claim victory because one person on the jury didnt want to convict on the rest of the charges. Good job guys keep up the good fight. Team Mueller is winning. Another former Trump guy in his pocket.

The entire Manafort situation is a political win for Trump, and it's purely because of the idiocy of the anti-Trumpers' framing.

The Democrats have been hanging their hat on "Muhhh Russia" for nearly two years now, yet Mueller's team has presented nothing suggesting a conspiracy between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin to influence the 2016 election.

If the Democrats had framed this issue from the start as "Trump is surrounded by crooks", they would have gotten a lot more mileage out of the investigations.

Yes but he ADMITTED to the other charges, they are just dropping them.

No. He admitted to the allegations underlying those charges, which allows the prosecutors to consummate the conspiracy charge. That's not the same as admitting to the charges. He will not plea guilty to 5 of 7 charges.

More broadly, let's see you connect these charges to the "muh Russia" conspiracy theory.
