Time travel stories are almost always flawed, which is why they joked around about it. Back to the Future had lots of things that didn't make sense, and they knew this movie was flawed too. If you treat it like Star Trek, where everything is supposed to make perfect sense, then you're not going to enjoy it.

Game of Thrones Alum Richard Madden to Play Ikaris in THE ETERNALS Movie

zL6dC1d.jpg

Game of Thrones and Bodyguard star Richard Madden is in talks to join Marvel’s The Eternals. Angelina Jolie and Kumail Nanjiani are also on board. Madden will play Ikaris, a member of the human offshoot race known as the Eternals.

Created by Jack Kirby in 1976, the comic book is set millions of years in the past, when the cosmic beings known as the Celestials genetically experimented on humans to create super-powered individuals known as the Eternals, along with the villainous Deviants. The two groups battled each other throughout history. The Eternals also warred with Greek, Roman and Norse deities before leaving Earth to explore the stars.

Chloe Zhao, whose credits include The Rider and Songs My Brothers Taught Me, is directing The Eternals from a script by Matthew and Ryan Firpo. Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige is producing the pic.

Best known for his role as Robb Stark on Game of Thrones, Madden’s star began to rise again last year when his Netflix series Bodyguard became a huge hit, earning him a Golden Globe. On the film side, he is set to play Elton John’s manager in the highly anticipated biopic Rocketman, which is set to premiere later this month at the Cannes Film Festival.

Chadwick Boseman To Play African Samurai ‘Yasuke’

Fresh from playing the African warrior king Black Panther in Avengers: Endgame, Chadwick Boseman has officially aligned himself to play Yasuke, the first African samurai to swing a sword in Japan.

Erik Feig’s Picturestart has teamed with Mike De Luca and his De Luca Productions banner, Stephen L’Heureux and his Solipsist banner, and Boseman and Logan Coles’ X●ception Content to produce the film adaptation of the story of Yasuke, who served under Japanese warlord Oda Nobunaga in 16th century Japan.

Yasuke was a native of Portuguese Mozambique who was brought to Japan as a slave to Jesuit missionaries. The first black man to set foot on Japanese soil, Yasuke’s arrival aroused the interest of Nobunaga, a ruthless warlord seeking to unite the fractured country under his banner. A complex relationship developed between the two men as Yasuke earned Nobunaga’s friendship, respect — and ultimately, the honor, swords and title of samurai.

Ever since I first learned of Yasuke’s existence I’ve been wondering how long it would take for them to make a movie about him.

It’s the kind of historical character that you can’t just make up.

"Let me throw in a plug here. My favorite recent movie – which surprised me, because it was so much better, not only better than I expected, but it's that thing where you see a film and you go "Oh, it's better than it needed to be..." was the Tolkien biopic. It's really so beautiful. It's visually incredibly well-constructed. It's almost never heavy-handed. If you know Tolkien's work you're allowed to draw comparisons between the Black Country and Mordor or whatever, but nothing is ever thumped down... watching who this person was, a linguist who needs to build stories to go with his languages.

And yes, they put a love story in there, and yes, you have the awfulness of the trenches in World War I and the point where he's in a bloody pool surrounded by dead people, dead officers he doesn't even know, dead men – where he has Sam, his bat-man who is not leaving him, and you can go, "Okay, yes." You can build your own analogies here.

But it's actually done with intelligence and with grace – and that was a complete surprise to me, so hugely and unreservedly recommended."

Tolkien's catholicism absent from the film, which, frankly, is nearly as essential as his being a philologist

Next STAR WARS Movies Confirmed to Be from GAME OF THRONES Creators

Speaking at the MoffettNathanson Media & Communications Summit, Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed that the next batch of Star Wars movies the company will be released will be from the series penned by Game of Thrones creators, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.

“The Benioff and Weiss series will be the next Star Wars movies released,” Iger said.

One week ago The Walt Disney Company put out their film slate through 2027, including three mystery Star Wars films dated for December 16, 2022, December 20, 2024 and December 18, 2026.

Regarding the break between the next Star Wars film and the planned 2022 movie, Iger said: “We’re hard at work already, but we felt three years was the proper amount of time to not only take a breather and reset, but to gear up for the next film’s release.”

It was revealed last year that the pair would write and produce a new series of Star Wars films, separate from both the episodic Skywalker saga and the previously announced trilogy that is in development from Star Wars: The Last Jedi‘s Rian Johnson.

“David and Dan are some of the best storytellers working today,” Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, previously said. “Their command of complex characters, depth of story and richness of mythology will break new ground and boldly push Star Wars in ways I find incredibly exciting.”

“In the summer of 1977 we traveled to a galaxy far, far away, and we’ve been dreaming of it ever since,” Benioff and Weiss said. “We are honored by the opportunity, a little terrified by the responsibility, and so excited to get started as soon as the final season of Game of Thrones is complete.”
