I shall dub this new trend of disregarding sequels and reboots as:

De-boots?

Se-boots???

Whatever This Is, It Is Amazing

Holy shit, I don’t even know where to begin with this one, except to say that I love it. Stick with me because this is going to sound a little confusing.

You might remember the standup comic/magician The Amazing Johnathan from back in the day. Or perhaps you saw him perform in Las Vegas at some point. With his unkept hair and trademark headband, The Amazing Johnathan used props to perform quick, hilarious illusions on stage, most of which have some abject, gory quality to them. Years ago, Johnathan was diagnosed with a terminal heart condition that gave him one year to live. Three years later, he’s somehow still alive and ready risk a return back to the stage. He also likes to smoke meth as casually as most people “take vitamins”.

That sounds like a decent setup for a typical documentary, a kind of look at the inherent sadness behind the clown’s mask. We’ve all seen them. Thank god, this is not that at all.

Telling you what it actually is, however, is not easy. You do have a sense early on that something feels very off about what you’re seeing. The film begins in a fashion you’d expect. We’re offered a brief introduction to Johnathan’s career. We meet his wife, someone you’ll want to keep an eye on throughout the film. We see him take his handfuls of medication (including the meth). We watch him visit his hometown. We hear from his mother.

And then we learn that Johnathan has hired a second, separate crew to make a documentary about him as well (a plotline with slightly more credence than likely intended thanks to the dueling Fyre docs that just came out). This crew will not let themselves be seen in the other documentary, but they are getting better access. Johnathan justifies this because, hey he’s dying, and this is the outfit that made Searching for Sugar Man and Man on Wire. They’re big time.

At this point, the focus of the documentary gradually shifts from Johnathan to Ben Berman, the doc’s director. Obviously, he has feelings about the competing documentary crew, and Johnathan doesn’t help things by passive-aggressively rubbing that conflict in his face.

A documentary about a documentary film crew would be amazing.

Jeff Bridges sent out a tweet and an instagram video of him as The Dude.

A couple days later it was revealed that it was for a Stelia Artois commercial with a horse.

James Gunn to Write and Direct SUICIDE SQUAD 2 with a Mostly New Cast of Characters

James Gunn is returning to the director’s chair. Gunn, who was fired from helming the third installment in his Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, is in negotiations to direct the second Suicide Squad film, the follow-up to the Warner Bros. 2016 hit that featured DC Comics anti-heroes as the leads.

The move is not entirely unexpected as Gunn was already writing the script for the sequel, which Warner Bros. just slotted for a August 2021 release.

The dealmaking does, however, solidify that the new Suicide Squadfilm will be his next directorial effort. Disney fired Gunn from his Marvel franchise in July after old tweets from 2008 and 2009 resurfaced in which he made insensitive and controversial jokes.

The pic has the title of The Suicide Squad and is not being labeled a direct sequel but as a relaunch. The 2016 original movie featured the characters Deadshot, Harley Quinn, the Joker, Captain Boomerang and Killer Croc, who are forced into the service of the government in exchange for lighter prison sentences.

Sources say that Gunn’s focus is to take the franchise in a new direction with a mostly all-new cast of characters and actors. Sources also say that the project is also very much rooted in Gunn’s vibe, as seen in the Guardiansmovies.

Charles Roven and Peter Safran will produce the feature. Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder are acting as executive producers.

Matt Reeve's THE BATMAN Gets June 25, 2021 Release; Ben Affleck No Longer Playing Batman

CQ6UCTt.jpg

Warner Bros. is dating their next rendition of Batman for June 25, 2021. This is the one that Matt Reeves has been attached to as writer and director. Ben Affleck, Deadline hears, will not be donning the Dark Knight’s tights after playing the Caped Crusader in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad and Justice League and that’s because this movie will focus on a younger Bruce Wayne.

Reeves boarded Batman in February 2017, taking over for Affleck who was originally set to direct off a script he wrote with DC’s Geoff Johns. Affleck, we understand has a busy plate: As Deadline exclusively broke he is starring in and producing the feature adaptation of Kate Alice Marshall‘s novel I Am Still Alive, which Universal won in a competitive bidding scenario. The two-time Oscar winner is also starring in the Warner Bros.’ Gavin O’Connor drama Torrance. Affleck worked hard on The Batman story, but knew he wasn’t the right one for this particular version. A search is underway for a new Dark Knight.

The Batman will not be based on Frank Miller’s Batman: Year One comic which is one of Reeves’ favorites in the Caped Crusader canon.

“It’s very much a point of view-driven, noir Batman tale,” said Reeves. “[The narrative is] very squarely on his shoulders, and I hope it’s going to be a story that will be thrilling but also emotional. It’s more Batman in his detective mode than we’ve seen in the films. The comics have a history of that. He’s supposed to be the world’s greatest detective, and that’s not necessarily been a part of what the movies have been. I’d love this to be one where when we go on that journey of tracking down the criminals and trying to solve a crime, it’s going to allow his character to have an arc so that he can go through a transformation.”

Interesting Thanos story ark that could explain why Dr. Strange had to look at over 14 million different outcomes to defeat the mad titan.
Apparently Thor did kill Thanos and his visit to the soul world explained that he is now immortal due to him possessing the soul stone.

This on top of another is that by possessing the soul gem. He will be not be affected by time the effects of altering history by Ironman an others traveling back in time to retrieve the gems.

This is why Dr Strange had to view so many different events an even make changes in the future an past when all the time people thought he was just looking around. When he brought the time gem back it was glowing an being used as it was put on Thanos.
