The point is obvious and she even mentions it but I can't expect people who get triggered easily by any mention of racism to understand it.

The point is that while Ahed got tons of media attention and support, she is far from the only Palestinian child who has faced the brutality of the Zionist occupation. All Palestinian children are deserving of the basic humanity afforded to Ahed but are less likely to get it because they don't look white and thus don't make for as juicy a story.

I think young women generally are just more likely to get a sympathetic response.
It was the same with all the stories about Kurdish women fighting Isis, the fate of the Yazidi women or that famous picture of the Afghan girl refugee on national geographic.

This is true but there is a strong bias against Palestine in the West so I think it took more than the suffering of just any young girl to overcome that bias, it took the suffering of one who looked more the Western audience.

You've mentioned this before and it's always kind of weird to me. I've met a lot of Mexican persons in my life, almost entirely in the US, and most of them are very dark complected. I realize that there is a typical class of Mexican laborers, particularly agricultural, that are drawn to the US, but even the graduate students and more well-off Mexicans I have met are often quite dark.

This thread is a great example of why minorities don't vote conservative. Palestinians probably have more in common, socially and economically, with middle America conservatives than coastal liberals do, but all the conservatives here have a knee jerk reaction of attacking a woman and her daughter because the woman disparaged the Western media, which is EXACTLY WHAT THE CURRENT PRESIDENT IS DOING.
