More impressive: Jones beating Gane or Silva beating Forrest ?

Gane - a kickboxer who never beat a single wrestler in his career before fighting Jon, never held the actual title

Forrest - well rounded but not great at anything, held the title

I'd say Forrest based on that

Only casuals thought Gane had anything for Jones

Gane had not beat a single wrestler in his entire career before fighting Jones lol
Yes it was pretty obvious to me too, but the puzzle was whether Jones would get past Gane's striking without getting put out. The fact that Jones choked him out in a couple of minutes is something. Who does that?

It's wrestling that induces panic in the opponent right ? That's how it looked. Damn, I hate that fight lol
I think panic wrestling is usually when a person who doesnt usually wrestle gets tagged a lot and starts to panic and resorts to wrestling and taking their opponent down

Example conor was getting pieced up in his first fight with nate, then panicked and started to wrestle which he rarely does

I could be wrong though

Forrest could take Gane down & smother him even today.

When it comes to the Anderson fight ppl forget Forrest was coming off of losing the 205 belt to Rashad, a fight where he won the first 2 rounds. This was after beating Rampage in a close fight & submitting Shogun. Forrest has at least 4 wins against former UFC Champs, Gane has 1.

With Silva Forrest I was like: <{danawhoah}>then<VinceShock> then <DCWhoa> then <JonesLaugh>

With Jones Gane I was like: {<doc} then <Oku01> then <Fedor23> and ultimately once again <JonesLaugh>

You're obviously right, I was just joking, referring to how in the JJ/Gane fight, Jones certainly wasn't the one panicking :(

Jones because of his long ring rust, but considering Silva was the smaller guy because he was a MW at that time, no bulk and anything, it's also impressive. But Jones because Gane >>> Forrest.
Is he though? Both guys had just lost a title fight in their last bout but Forrest was the actual champion whereas Gane was not.

Granted Ganes hype far eclipses Forrest’s but in terms of mma Forrest was quite a bit more accomplished than Gane at least at the time of their respective bouts.

Quite clearly Forrest.
Former Champ, decorated veteran, much more established fighter, tougher weight class...need I go on?

Yea I asked myself the same question when I read the OP. To me they are pretty close. Gane nearly beat Ngannou after cruising against the rest of the division (albeit no wrestlers); Forrest got a title fight from a two-fight winning streak, won the belt, then got knocked out. History will remember Gane as the superior fighter unless his career falls off a cliff from here, but they are both in that weak champ/excellent contender range.

The real issue here is the styles make fights thing. Forrest was fairly well-rounded. Gane is one-dimensional. If Silva had moved and and faced someone like Gane he might have had trouble. If Jones had gone up and faced someone like Forrest, he might have had trouble.

Silva beating Forrest IMO. Former champ coming off two top wins.

Conor wrecking Alvarez was better than both (win over drugged out Xanax guy or newb grappler) of those

Silva. Forrest was a standup fighter. Jones caught Gane with something he didn’t know what to do with. Still impressive to move up and beat a top contender but I’ll go Silva.

LOL Forrest a standup fighter... Maybe because thats where he's the least bad.

Anderson over Forrest. The latter was a former champion, had victories over Shogun and Rampage, even if he was a much inferior striker to Gane. He was a much more complete MMA fighter. And Anderson looked unreal. I don't think Jones looked good, just that Gane looked literally benighted on the ground.
