Elections More Americans Identify as Republican than Democrat for the first time in 30 Years

I went back 1 year from the last poll because it gives you a larger data set to cement the trend. If you don't want to go back that far, then how far back do you want to go?

Post Conventions 2024
Republicans = 47.5
Democrats = 47.0

Post Spring-2024
Republicans = 47.2
Democrats = 45.8

Post March-2024 (once Trump secured Republican nomination)
Republicans = 46.375
Democrats = 45.25

There is no meaningful date range that favors the Democrats in our most immediate history with that poll. So unless you want to cherry pick that single result from that single pollster, perhaps you'll understand why the data scientsts are so surprised.
it's interesting that you think that.

Crazy, but they're still not going to win the popular vote.

The documented shift towards Americans being classified as conservative has been well established since the Biden administration took office. So this is a reasonable correlation to be expected

Is that important in America?
The EC is racist and unfair!

<NotListening>
It's the political version of a Participation Trophy.
Yes, it's important, and to dismiss it as a participation trophy is errantly dismissive.

The winner of the popular vote should always weigh on the mind of anyone who believes in a democracy. Because, especially in what is effectively a two-person election race, it indicates the person the majority wanted to be their representative. I don't dismiss the value of the electoral college, just as I see the wisdom in the existence of the Senate where so many countries lack that it in their parliaments, but every win that carries only half the house is stained. After all, that isn't how our laws are passed.

There's your problem. ;)

I guarantee you that neither Trump nor Harris will give a single fuck about losing the popular vote as long as the EC puts them in the White House.

If this is meant to suggest the argument we are not a democracy because we are a republic, that isn't true. We are not an absolute democracy, but that doesn't mean we aren't a democracy, and it isn't necessarily a bad thing. There is an entire school of study devoted to the question of election philosophy, and trying to best organize election processes to reflect the will of the people. It's not as simple as, "Why don't they just count the votes? derp" argument you get from a lot of ignorant posters online.

But it still matters, especially in a bipartisan platform where there are two viable candidates representing one of two parties that together win 100% of elections.

I never said you weren't a democracy. I'm saying it doesn't matter. Expecting a politician to care about the will of the people is like expecting a hooker to fall in love with you.

Of course, I have more respect for a good working girl than any politician. At least when a hooker promises you a happy ending, she delivers. ;)

"And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning?"

"Hillary wanted to put up wind. Wind. If you have a windmill anywhere near your house, congratulations, your house just went down 75 percent in value. And they say the noise causes cancer, you tell me that one, okay?"

“I see again the forest fires are starting. They’re starting again in California. I said, you gotta clean your floors, you gotta clean your forests — there are many, many years of leaves and broken trees and they’re like, like, so flammable, you touch them and it goes up.”

.....

I dunno guys I just don't think I can vote for Kamala. I don't think she understands basic science and that's very important to me.
He was right about California. Do you understand forest management at all?

The reason is the left hates the Democrat Party and many never plan to vote again while Republicans are enthusiastic about the current state of their party.

Doesn't take a genius to figure this one out.

Democracy/Republic in modern terms are the same fucking thing. Almost every time you've heard the phrase Democracy that person has meant a Republic.

When people say this isn't a democacy its because there is no real way to effect change if you don't agree with the ideology that both main partys share.

Direct democracy is the most functional part of the US system but thats not what people are really talking about when they drop that line about this not being a democracy.

- US has a bigger population also 300 mi, maybe more.
I am referring to the % per capita of each country. Not the numbers of 1 single country in South America compared to the US.
And since they're dropping jailing people, obviously the number went down.
Compared to the US, the numbers/% of criminal apprehension in South America has been shitty since.... forever? Not just recently.

lol at you thinking parents are “pushing” trans on their kids to get cool points……. You think parents get cool points for that?
I didn't say "all parents". But there is a disturbing select %.
being trans is hell for the kid and for the parent.
Well... it's something they bring upon themselves. Just tough it out until they are adults and realize they are just gay/lesbian. Instead of doing something so stupid that it makes it impossible to go back/reverse.
The only question that matters is what is in the best long term interest for the kid. And there are different answers to that.
I promise taking crazy hormone meds and or carving themselves up are not good long (or short) term. Source: common sense.
And it’s frankly the right that want the government (and themselves) to be the arbiter of that and limit treatments available.
And??? So because I am not pro-"choppaloppadingdong". AND???
And they think it’s bad intent of those actually involved. Parents, educators, healthcare professionals all conspiring to harm.
A few teachers have already been fired for encouraging a kid or two to transition and "don't tell your parents". Not sure why you'd defend that crap.
I agree with some of the pushback
Start there and keep going... because commone sense tells us that this shit won't age well. England is already going through MANY legal processes.
