I'll be watching in IMAX. Love all of the MIs except for 2. Kinda bummed this is the last one but am excited to see Cruise do something fresh.
I don't have an IMAX near me so I'll go to XD. My first ever XD experience was Ghost Protocol. I think Rogue Nation - Dead Reckoning were all in normal theaters for whatever reason, so I look forward to returning to XD for this one.

I don't think this is going to be the last.

In June 2023, McQuarrie told Fandango that Dead Reckoning Part One and The Final Reckoning would not necessarily end the series, and they were developing ideas for future installments. In July 2023, during promotion for Dead Reckoning Part One, Cruise expressed interest in continuing to make further films in the series as Ethan Hunt, despite both films having initially been billed as a send-off to the character, citing Harrison Ford playing Indiana Jones well until his late 70s.

Ghost Protocal and Fallout are absolutely great movies. Rogue Nation is better than 3 too. I rewatched them all last year and I had a blast with it.

The most recent movie, was a step down for me. Maybe because it didn't conclude, I don't know exactly. I think the two part thing they did was a poor idea, I don't even remember what happened.

But I have noticed that I tend to enjoy these MI movies more on a second watch. If you haven't rewatched 4, 5, and 6 i think it's worth revisiting. I also had the same opinion and when I went back to them I really gained alot more appreciation for the series.
I agree. Ghost Protocol and Fallout are all time great action movies. Just SUPER enjoyable and entertaining. Rogue Nation felt very bland by comparison. It was a fine movie, but it was extremely lacking in the action department compared to the other two. I remember being a bit disappointed leaving the theater, and I've felt that way on every subsequent rewatch. It's meh.

I think II is still the worst, and after that, I guess I'd put III as the second worst, though it's not bad. It's just kinda meh and borders on being forgettable. Maybe it's the TV look (since it tried to be the M:I version of Alias). But I've never loved it.

I don't think it was the lack of an ending that made Dead Reckoning subpar (for an M:I movie; still a good action movie in its own right) but it just never managed to hit the heights of GP and Fallout. The trailer for Final Reckoning actually looks pretty good. Even if it's not as good as those two, I hope it's better than DR1 and RN.

I thought Rogue Nation was pretty meh (a good movie in its own right, just a meh entry compared to some of the others), but I freaking LOVED Fallout. Ghost Protocol and Fallout for me are two of the best in the entire franchise (but M:I 1 is still my favorite of them all). Rogue Nation felt slower and less awesome than Ghost Protocol, and then Fallout seemed like it ramped back up to being awesome again, so RN got sandwiched between two all time great entries.

M:I 1 is also my favorite.
Also I got a soft spot for MI 2, I knew they won't be able to top the first one easily so I fully embraced the campy and cheesiness that John Woo brought to the table and I love it. First and second hold more meaning to me then the third one from JJ Abrams and that total hack Alex Kurtzman (poor Star Trek fans).

M:I 1
M:I 2
M:I Dead Reckoning
Ghost Protocol
M:I 3
Then Fallout and Rogue Nation are interchangeable.

I'm shocked you have GP and Fallout so low. I had a freaking blast with both of them.

I've adored M:I 1 from the moment I first saw it and it's never stopped being my #1. It's a travesty that none of the sequels managed to capture its look and feel and mood and atmosphere. I remember getting word that "M:I 2 was coming" and I couldn't have been more excited. My imagination was running wild and I was expecting to get more of the same awesome goodness. Then while I was in the theater for another movie the M:I 2 trailer came on (totally unexpected) and I sat there with my mouth open absolutely horrified. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It might as well have been a completely different franchise. It was totally unrecognizable and it looked dumb as fuck. I remember the next morning I was seriously questioning whether I had just dreamt that shit. I was in total denial and hoping it was just a bad dream. But no, I had really seen it.

I wanted a true sequel that looked and felt like a legitimate continuation. Not some lame bastardization in-name-only bullshit. But that's exactly what we got.

Anyway, I've loved M:I 1 since I first saw it, and hated M:I 2 since I first saw it. They've remained absolutely immovable in their "First Place" and "Last Place" positions. And I don't think that's ever going to change.

Yeah my list doesn't look great I know and Fallout and RN are good movies, good action, actors on point, decent story and writing, cinematography etc all correct I can't poke at them to a specific thing but overall when I see them I feel dullness something is missing in the tone and atmosphere.

and hated M:I 2 since I first saw it.

It terms of actual movie making M:I 2 might be the weakest of them all yes but be it nostalgia, be it long hair Cruise swinging from that rock, the energy, the entire package works for me, even that cheese bad ending.

And I totally understand why it is last for you, it is probably the general consensus that it is the weakest one in the franchise.

Yes, first one is perfect.

Ghost Protocol is the only good M:I movie for me.
Didn't know until now that all M:I movies outside of a second part have above 7 on IMDb.

I know. But I'm still like:
<{Joewithit}>

That's a rare take.

Being a John Woo fan from the 80's goes a long way towards liking that movie, and I'm in that camp.

As far as the new one? I felt no real draw to watch the last one. Still haven't seen it, actually, and the last few seem to run together in my memory. I'll probably watch these somewhere down the line, but not soon.

Having started on the series with 2 it always hold a special place in my heart. imo 1 is so different it just doesn't resonant with me. I like all of them but the rest kinda blur together. I'm pretty sure I remember the general plot of 3, but otherwise I just remember random scenes, like him and Benji going into the Kremlin and using the Projector Screen, him and Superman fighting the asian guy in the bathroom, him hanging off the side of the plane, etc.

Love or hate Cruise. He puts e erything hea got in his roles except maybe a few.

I wonder if this will earn more than Dead Reckoning?
