Media Merab Dvalishvili talks Umar, targets return in March: "I need 6 months" off

He hasn’t beat Yan yet, so how can we take that into the equation. I literally just said if he beats Yan I’d agree he’s done/proven more.

I’m talking about what we’ve already seen, which excludes hypothetical future fights.

To me crushing the #2 guy who is the most proven means more than beating the guys that guy already beat - I mean didn’t Sandhagen tool Vera & Font?

That should mean beating him means more than beating them, but again MMA Math so I know it’s just my opinion.

I thought I made it very clear that I was talking about the hypothetical situation where both Umar and Figgy wins their next fights..... I mean, we have to make that assumption to even argue about the two vying for the next title shot, no?

I get what you are saying bro, I just was making my initial argument (which you responded to) without using those future booked fights as part of the equation.

My original point was about what is considered a quality win and how we rate those wins - it’s a subjective spectrum where we all will differ on quality vs quantity (and how quality a win an opponent is based on context).

Since Sandhagen absolutely schooled both Font and Vera, and yet Umar schooled Sandhagen (in the standup no less) I find that more impressive.

Obviously just my opinion, I don’t expect everyone to agree. I do respect your opinion though and can’t say you don’t make good points, because you clearly do.

I mean of course, you guys would rather see fights that're complete ass just to trigger people, you're literally bragging about a self own lol. Enjoy O'Malley vs Merab 2!
You don't know my opinion, hence why I said regardless of if the original comment is right.

But seeing stinky daggy fanatics get triggered is a timeless treat

Figgy is going to be the betting underdog vs Yan anyways so you may as well lean towards him losing to save yourself some energy lol.

Is it a 5 rounder? If so, then I agree with those odds. I'm less certain about a 3 rounder.

Given his fight style and gym he trains out of this shouldn't be surprising to anyone.

Quack

Which sucks because he deserves to get a shot at the belt. If he loses here, I don't know if he gets another chance. Should have just booked him vs Merab in March since it was known Umar vs Merab wasn't going to happen.

Lol, Umar's the next contender? I'll have my first defense in the middle of Ramadan.

When Dagestanis doesn't fight immediately after they won the title: They need rest
When others doesn't fight: They are ducking

Islam literally named his first defense and location in the cage about 30 seconds after having the belt put on him, and fought it 3 1/2 months later.

Khabib took multiple opponent changes just to get the title because the "champ" had held the belt hostage for a year and half without defending it, and they had to strip him and wait for Conor's pending criminal charges and booked the fight the week after they gave him a slap on the wrist.

Yeah those stinky daggy fanatics, their guys really lose often so you get the last laugh…oh wait…

lol, I don’t even want to think about how much crying it would have created here, if Merab would have called out Pantoja for his first defense.

Let’s be honest, Merab knows his goose is cooked against Umar. He’s known this for a while now… he’s just trying to milk his 15 minutes of fame.

Umar most likely schools him and the UFC most likely never gives him a title shot again. The ole Jon Fitch treatment.

Pantoja isn't even top 10 p4p, and is 5 spots lower than Merab. Yeah, obviously people would complain if Merab ducked the clear top contender who is favored to beat him to fight someone who just won his own belt last year, isn't a draw and is 5 spots lower than him on the p4p rankings.

Islam and Volk were #1 and #2 p4p and heavily favored over everyone in their own divisions, so they fought for the #1 p4p spots, even though Islam had to beat him twice to get the spot. Volk was actually supposed to move up to fight Oliveira, but Islam ended up smashing Charles, so he got the fight instead.

Don't let the truth get in the way of an asinine story, Shermano.
