it's not much of a diss, he is just saying khabib never faced someone as good as merab which is true. But merab also never faced someone as good as khabib, petr yan and omalley are primarily strikers. Aldo was past his prime and also fighting at elevation against merab. It goes both ways

Khabib never faced anyone as good as Yan, Cejudo or Umar, especially in regards to his strengths. RDAs weakness was what? Folding to good wrestlers. Conor McGregor weakness was what? Wrestling and submissions. Poirier weakness was what? Poirier was getting thrown around by Korean Zombie and Cub Swanson at 145, Hooker was landing takedowns when needed on him. Gaethje is a bit different, known for good takedown defense but horrible grappling and his cardio when pressed was never good so Khabib did just buzzsaw him. The best wrestlers Khabib ever faced were Tibau, Eldarov and Bagov...Bagov and Tibau both took him down. Theres no footage vs Eldarov and it was like his first pro fight.

It's not crazy to think if Khabib fought guys like Makhachev, Burns, Benson, Oliveira, Arman, Khabilov etc. He would have struggled a lot more. He just simply didn't. There was an era where wrestlers largely disappeared from the UFC and it correlated with the wave of Russians being signed, people tried to say wrestling stopped working but I think if the UFC was signing guys like Chandler, Jenkins, Mix, Joey Davis, Jordan Newman, Pico, Caldwell, Eblen, Gasanov, Phil Davis, Bader etc...that the promotion would have looked a lot different than it has the last decade and even if all these guys got beat, there'd be way more guys getting exposed for their lack of grappling and physicality and Dagestanis wouldn't appear as dominant as they have. There was a real clear move away from takedown artists by the UFC and when a niche is removed from an ecosystem like say crocodiles when the climate shifted and became too cold in much of the world...fucking salamanders filled that niche of before dolphins there were jurassic dolphins. Its just Khabibs whole appear is how unbeatable he was, he was unbeaten, never anywhere close to unbeatable.

I never said khabib beat someone as good as cejudo or umar, he didn't. But merab never beat someone as good as khabib

He'd be right to say that. Khabib did not fight one single credentialed grappler after losing to Tibau. His entire main UFC run was strikers he could ragdoll, he did not have a diverse resume like some of the actual GOATs of the sport, he fought the same opponent 5+ times and UFC glazed it like he's unbeatable. Tibau mogged him, think about what current day wrestlers could do if he wasn't allowed to duck them.

Yeah instead Merab faced Aldo who Khabib literally turned down instead of fighting for the interim title.

Merab wasn't afraid of going 0/30 on TDs but Khabib was.

If all greats were somehow in the same weight category, none of them goes undefeated
