Media Meeting the Diaz brothers- good guys and great fighters (pics)

I have always hated the gangster//thug/tough guy mentality that the Diaz brothers and a whole lot of other fighters project. All this smack talk looks lame to me.

But I am thinking it is mostly an act. They really aren't bad guys I don't think (the Diaz brothers I mean).

My elderly mother in her 70s saw a bunch of fighters in a hotel where she was staying. She approached and talked to them for a long time, and I couldn't believe how nice they were to her (the Diaz brothers and also Leben, to a lesser extent Reem).

Mind you, mom is the kind of old lady that walked up and totally gushed about "Oh my son loves your fighting, I sure wish he were here to meet you." The type that you would think guys like that would totally ditch.

That couldn't be further from what happened! The Diaz brothers were super nice; they were chatting, joking around, and taking pictures for a long time with her.

She said Leben was full of personality also and a lot of fun to talk with. Reem stood against the wall quietly but said hello in a friendly way and was OK with her taking pics.

Nice to hear!
I was also impressed that your mom actually recognized the fighters.

Cool pics, thanks for sharing em.

I saw Nate Diaz vs RDA live, and if you remember that fight, Nate got fucking brutalized. After that card was over, when I was on the street after leaving the arena, I saw Nate just down the block and fans were coming up to him. I could see him smiling, joking, posing for pics with people even though his face was hamburger…. Seemed like a cool guy.

Very cool. Always knew the Diaz brothers are good hearted people who treat their fans right, as are many other fighters.

Just curious, how did your mother recognize them? Do you have posters on your wall or something?

I got her remarried husband into UFC, so he watched it off and on when they were home.

Diaz Bros., just like Tito Ortiz, are awesome to their fans and really give them the time of day. They appreciate them. It's a reason why some of their fans are so rabid and dedicated. They may be polarizing people and fighters, but they're great to those who back them.

Meh...they know that's a mom of a sherdogger. They have to be nice. Next you know a 6'8 270 lb pound sherdogger comes out and embarasses them. Who needs that kind of publicity.

I heard criminals are the same way in prison cells...Yeah, no, most fighters are very humble...that sounds like an awesome experience...especially treating a grandma with much respect is on another level of humility too. Most fighters are kind off camera.

You have a point there,lol

Nothing but respect for Nick, Nate and Leben. Say what you want about them, they are warriors.
