If Max can finish the fight and not get mauled, and possibly win a round or 2, does that count as a moral victory for him? I feel like that's what he's thinking by taking this fight. If he gets destroyed in the first round, he's the smaller champ who had 6 days to prep; If he goes all 5 rounds and get mauled, he's the 145lb champ who had the heart of a champion and he lasted 5 rounds of carnage against a killer; if he goes 5 rounds and he's even semi competitive he'll be looked at as a hero; and if he actually pulls of the miracle upset with a flash ko, then he gets celebrity UFC champ status. Other than suffering serious brain damage, which is a possibility given the circumstances and who he's fighting, it's basically a win all the way around for Max.

Who has Khabib stopped? Max is way more savage than anybody Khabib has faced in the UFC, he stopped Micheal Johnson which is not saying a whole lot, his stoppages were not against high level competition

No it's not he can take a lot of damage if he gets pounded out for 25 minutes by the bigger, fully ready fighter.

A win for him is an actual WIN.

Second best is get in there, make that money and get out respectfully inside 2 with a sub.

Well, he's going to lose faster than that so I guess it's a lose-lose situation.

Max leaving without instant CTE is a win for him

There is no such thing as a moral W. Either u win or u lose as simple as that.

Nah

It's not like Khabib is a prolific finisher, plenty have gone to a decision with him.

If Khabib dominates him and gets a few 10-8s it's still a fat L

i would say if this goes 5 rounds he will be mauled and will not look the same. to win he needs to finish the fight and finish the fight within3

If the fight is competitive it is a win for Max. I just dont see him winning with his style in a bigger division with 6 days notice. Especially when he is facing khabib.

Max winning offers the most intriguing scenario for me because then he can ask Conor to beg him for a shot at either belt or say that he has to go through Tony and Khabib first. Basically balances out the karmic equation. Conor would probably leapfrog all contenders again and get an instant rematch with Max because the UFC is ass like that nowadays.

Like someone said above, Khabib is not known to for KOing people.

If Max manages to pull a close split decision loss, then i agree that hes as good as Khabib....But if he gets ragdolled for 25 mins....

Khabib is not a great finisher. And Max is not MJ.

getting pummeled, mauled for 5 rounds and making it to the end wont feel as a victory

He's also the smallest and the least prepared (even including Horcher). People have survived Khabib over three rounds, but I'm not sure they'd have been able to withstand it for two more rounds.

Stop this nonsense with moral victories... History does not remember moral victors only does who actually won! This mentality is detrimental to human development...

If he last 5 rounds with Khabib, Max gonna win a lot of brain damage for sure.

Max is gonna be drained though, cutting 16-20 pounds in 6 days is no joke. I think his nutrionist or something said its gonna be one of the biggest weight cuts he has ever seen. Im hoping Max is superhuman and can still perform at a high level and pace, but that weight cut is gonna make the 5 rounds very difficult

Elkins finished MJ way faster, altho he absorbed more.. Damage
